What games are you (or your kids) getting for xmas

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/What games are you (or your kids) getting for xmas

Here we go.... this is my families top 5:

1: Paper Mario Thousand year door (GC)
2: Latest Zelda game (phantom hour glass) (DS)
3: Halo 2 (xbox) + Halo 2 expansion pack (xbox)
4: Cooking Mama (DS)
5: No five yet.... any suggestions for Game Cube PS2 or Xbox (orig) ?

Not sure but in the next month, definately Crysis and Mass Effect, maybe Assasins Creed if it comes out on PC this year.

Kids are getting a Wii.

I'm getting a book on WPF graphics programming and Call of Duty 4 for the PC (or maybe GRAW2)

With luck I'll have time to read the book someday.

I will be getting FM 2008 PSP (it say it take 1 hour a season which I think it is FAB!) :)

Tekken: Dark Resurrection on psp look interesting.

As for new computer? I havnt decide that yet. From what I know about Overclock computer could be good things but then again...it could be bad things because it could be short term life span!

Anybody got Games lists that line up for november and december please.

Call of Duty 4 for the 360 is my next purchase. I doubt I will wait for Christmas. ;)

BP: you'll LOVE Paper mario one of the best games I've played ever. My boys (6 and 3) loved it too. I might get TWO zeldas, one for Wii (have to buy the wii first) and one for DS. Also I want Orange box now I have a new gfx card.

I'd like to get COD4, Crysis etc.. but I'm just not inclined to spend the $100NZD it costs for a new game that gives 8-15 hours entertainment (given that I'm not into multiplayer) - so I'll wait till they're half that price.

So it's the Witcher next.

May rent a wii over chrissy just to see what it's all about...

Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 probably. Was considering getting The Witcher, but I don't know if I'd really enjoy it. Edit: Maybe Dementium: The Ward.

I've got a PocketSurfer2 - which isn't a game - it isn't even really an early Christas present - I just bought it coz I liked the look of it and it had ice-blue lighting on it that matches my gaming PC and the keyboard and mouse (they are all black and silver with ice-blue lighting).

I can afford to buy any game when I want, so I don't really have anything to look forward to, thus I'd not be able to post in this thread.

I might get one of those Ipod touch things for Christmas. It's not really a game - but it makes my post more valid.

Then again, if I buy an X-box360 or PS3 then that will count as I will buy games too. Not sure if I really want either one though.

Nothing really stands out.

Careful buying the Witcher. The combat system is stupid, I tried it the other day, and after about an hour decided I hated the combat system. Keep clicking on the enemy?? Come on, that is sooo lame.

I'm looking forward to playing "Jack Keane".
"Vampyre Story" looks interesting as well, but it won't be out until early 2008.

I've bought Sam&Max Season2 and next year i'll also go for A Vampyre Story.

The only PC game I'm looking forward to is A Vampyre Story. I'll be getting Mass Effect when it's released on Xbox360, but that's not really a Christmas present.

So I've heard - on the other hand, Gothic3's combat was naff (at least at the beginning), but it was the huge world, many characters and 40hrs playtime that grabbed me. Hope W can do the same.

GH3
Mario Galaxy

Mario Galaxy, we've still to complete Mario Sunshine (;-) Hasn't stopped us from getting paper mario though.

I have bought :-

Orange Box
Quake Wars
Ship Simulator 2006 + expansion

I am still awaiting Trainz Collection which I ordered from Auran games in Australia ... it should be out by November 13th + 2 weeks for delivery.

I just bought Diablo 2, quite fun. Good design the way they keep giving you rewards simply for playing, with the challenge/difficulty fairly easy so far allowing the player to be successful without too much effort.

Similar situation here - Santa will deliver it Christmas Day.

I'm about 40 hours into The Witcher, and loving it more and more. If I remember rightly, Mass Effect and Assassins Creed are out this week, so I'll probably grab both of those. Kane and Lynch: Dead Men looks like it'll be good so that'll probably get bought too. If Alone in the Dark 5 actually comes out before Xmas ( which I doubt ) then that's a pretty good bet. I'd like COD4, but I refuse to pay £30 or £40 for a game which is so woefully short.

Pah, some would put this on their xmas wishlist! http://www.zv-magazine.be/sfw/laptop_casemodding

It's Jules Verne's notebook.. ^_^

I'm heavily into Witcher too, best RPG since Oblivion and in many ways its actually better. Probably because its not so free roaming and open ended. I'd nominate it for one of the best games of the year.

You need a beefy system to run it though, I had to get a ram upgrade to 2gb otherwise it took ages to load anything.

My wife loves it too and just ordered one of the novels that just got translated to english. Had to get it from the UK since it hasn't been published here yet.

i plumped for an ion ied05 usb digital drum kit
better than that xbox band game with its nasty looking drumpad

The witcher looks wicked....

there's a good review of the witcher at:

http://pc.ign.com/articles/831/831264p1.html

They have atari as a publisher over here, who arent doing a good job promoting the game at all. It's a real shame as its currently being overlooked. It's a lot more interesting than your usualy RPG and the review does quite a good job of explaining why.

BP: Mario Sunshine is great, finished that. I know some people preffered the last N64 Mario game but I never played it so sunshine was pretty cool to me.

Matty: Look for the expansion pack on ebay, it should only be a couple of pound.

Steve Elliott: My radeon X1950 PRO arrived today, yay!

I did have the N64 Mario game, which many hold up as the best game ever made, I believe. Personally, while finding it fun, I never could fully get into it and so never finished it. Mind you, I didn't really get what all the fuss was about Mario games, at the time.

I absolutely loved Mario Sunshine but am aware some dont think it's a patch on the N64 game. Maybe I should go back and revisit it some time?!

As for Christmas, I shall be getting... absolutely nothing. :(

Aw :-( Well get yourself a beer then.

Cool. About time you upgraded that card of yours. ;-)

let's hope it still runs stuff smoothly in my framework, I'd hate an upgrade to make everything jerky!

Oh, you probably don't want to play witcher if you have kids around. There is the rare occasion where the language isn't suitable.
