LMFAO, does make you wonder why you need so much space to install vista. You can install 95 in 55 megs of space but Vista takes 15000 megs, does vista really need 272 times the space of 95? Is it really 272 times better with 272 times the features?

It will never happen, as far as their licence agreement is written, they are in charge of your pc, effectively believing they own full control rights to it so far as the software level allows. They want their bloaty slow systems to eventually become all you will ever need. At its historcal rate, Windows megs will multiply exponentially with each version until it fills half your harddisk and becomes so full of unremovable bastardized apps you wont need any others and the cult of MS will be all powerful *_* Oooooweiiiooo! :)

Its just getting ridiculous, take ubuntu for example, its twice the power in a fraction of the space - especially if you dont include the open office suite etc. Although saying that, even with all the supplied 3rd party applications it still fits on a cd :)

I like Vista, but as with any of Microsoft products they release them half finished and charge you extortionate prices for it, then you have to buy a good manual so you know how to use it properly.

And is it me or is Mac OS X (Leopard) starting to run like Vista ?.

Although the second one is the kind of thing that is down to user idiocy rather than the OSs fault (unlike many windows trojans which simply have to execute from a web page). If you run something with full FS admin rights it doesnt matter if its windows, osx, unix, linux or se-linux, it still has the potential to wreak havok.

Im beginning to wonder if apple are in a happy niche at the moment and want to put all their resources into the whole music/media thing. I wouldnt be surprised if standards started to slip a bit on the OS side of things.. it would be a shame :/

I've experienced issues with Leopard's DVD player. It freezes on the "Copyright" screen when I insert my brand new Andromeda Series 2 discs and nothing but a total system shutdown is possible. So instead I have to use VLC player. Andromeda's discs could be defective I suppose, but they work fine in everything else I've loaded them in...

Other than that, I've not noticed any issues with Leopard - not that I've used it very much.

First thing I do with any OS is check the firewall. Why the default firewall setting in leopard is set to "Allow all incoming connections" is beyond me ( it's a good job I have a firewall router thats top notch ).

Mine plays ok in DVD player. Is it a new Mac with leopard pre-installed or a upgrade ?, if a upgrade try clean installing leopard. Or could it be the DVD region code ?

Interesting. I just tried a few more discs from my collection and the Leopard DVD player seems to have problems only with those coded DVD-9 NTSC Region 0.

My system: MacBook Pro purchased a few months ago. Retail Leopard, clean install, latest patches. Region 4 (PAL, Australia).

In any case, I can't be bothered lodging a bug report with Apple that most likely will be ignored.
