I think we'll see max3D someday next year...

sometime next year? I would think sometime in 2011 if the current trend for stuff is to be beleived. We were supposed to have max3d years ago and its still not here.

As people have said use one of the other 3d engines, I waited for Max3d to come out in the end I used minib3d (with every version it gets better).

I think by the time its released only the diehard blitzers will buy it everyone else will be using tried and tested stuff, unless its absolutely amazing and uses every piece of hardware available today to the best of its abilities.

Well, if i ask my stomach then he says next year but i'm curious to see what Cygnus and Evak will come up with before. Beside of this i don't see any enjoyful 3d solution for BlitzMax so far. Honestly you better use unity if you're after 3d and can life with the mac limitations and the higher price tag.

I already have my copy. It's super sweetness wrapped up in a honey-soaked pair of Mark Silby's best white underpants. Where have you all been? Go buy it! You just have to type "make me a 3D game(genre)" and it does the whole caboodle! I'm flooding the market with DX10+ goodies already! It's Crazy! YAAAY!

I, for one, applaud Mark's decision to shelve Max3D to concentrate fully on improving and evolving the 2D aspects of Bmax.
That is what's happening... isn't it?

tonyg: no not really. From what posted it seems like a "next gen" 3D engine is harder to do than it seemed so the idea is to bring an engine that can be used with authoring tools that spit out BM code to be used in your application.
This indeed sounds like a nice idea although I'm not sure if this is going to end as good as it sounds when I look at Blitz3D IDE, BM IDE and Maplet ...


Definitely interested to see how Flow is working out.
From the pictures, I assume that flow started out from Aurora as the game is definitely the same that Anthony has been showing eye candy shots for about 2 years now.
But that does not mean that it is bad as the engine would have had potential if it hadn't been dropped like all engines he worked on before. (lucky me got one of the few downloads during "I make it open source" phase ;-) )

When was the last time you saw any screenshows associated with Max3D? I bet atleast 2-3 years ago first and the last screenshot ever posted.

We can all forget about Max3D ever happening and seeing the light of day. Its obvious that Mark has given up on it, but does not have the cohones to tell us as it is... For some strange reason he likes to keep us around believing in the myth he created.

You can't, Mark has not invented it yet, we are all under 2d lock

What's wrong with 2d, anyway? One less dimension to worry about means a lot more detail can go into the other two.

But there do exist third party devices to add the third dimension. Agreed, it might be dangerous due to inconsistent behaviours or the device only does exist for the win 2d lock but for some there might be a chance.

I would n't even worry about blitzmax 3d, cause times have moved on. in the next few months I can see lots of affordable next gen style enignes coming to the forefront, like 's2' engine for 1.
Lets face it direct x 10 is the latest and dx 7 is a long time past.

To escape the 2d room that we all currently find our selfs in, we need to look up the keymaker aka Mark. Keymaker has the keys to other dimensions like third dimension and if he does not have a key to that dimension he can make it.

But to find the kaymaker is mission impossible, in the old times he used to wonder among us and listen to us, now he is hidden somewhere working on his on and if anyone finds him he better ask him to give us the keys to the third dimension because this 2D that we find our selfs in and this 7 dx fake 3D is an illusion of 2d and mirrors.

Keymaker give us real 3D real fast before we all die and our dreams have past long ago.

A lot of us still work in and enjoy 2D. It really does get my goat that people dis 2D so much. Yeah, 3D is great but I think a lot of people on here would find it VERY difficult to finish writing a 2D game never mind a 3D one.
