I was tinkering with special effects, and came up with this:

It's coded in blitz3d, it's extremely simple, actually.

Feed back is appreciated, if you guys want, I can post source.

i cant really tell whats going on... Can you post a more detailed pic?

better, here's a file with the exe and source.

(well, filefront links dont work, but you can have the URL:

it's actually a simple motion blur, with an applied rectanglular displacement, the distortion itself is 5 lines of code :)

(the blur is exadurated and it's uber-laggy though)

The image itself doesn't really show much, since it isn't animated.

For those who downloaded the EXE: It appears that WASD allows you to zoom in/out and pan around, which shows the effect a whole lot better than just the initial screen you see after launch.

An impressive, warm looking image.

sorry, the controls are WASD to navigate the camera, and mouse to turn (but that's kinda buggy because the FPS is so slow)

here's something easier to see, it's just a sphere with a firey texture on it, with the distortion applied...If you can see, in the top left corner, it's running at 6 FPS :)

The program listed in the beginning of this thread gives a rock-solid 20FPS on my computer according to Fraps.

(Core 2 Duo E6600, ATI X1650XT)

My tick is giving me 6...
