Domain Name Resistrator Opinions?

I want find a good pure domain registration service.

As I currently know idotz, godaddy and enom, what's better in your opinion?

I'm getting a few space for Free Blitz related plugin/code/example hosting, this space come from my friend with a spare server, if I buy a domain I can avoid to use the hard to remember static ip address.

I use 123-reg.co.uk for mine. I don't know if they are the cheapest (I think they are the cheapest I found) but I haven't had problems with them.

The only problem ive had is getting rid of them once you give up a domain name. Its more of an issue with .co.uk domain names because every time ive setup a name and wanted to give it up after the first 2 years or so they dont inform nominet for you, so they keep sending you invoices until you fill out a form with 2 forms of id and send it to them by post. www.virtualnames.co.uk were quite good when i used them last. But i think the best service was from http://www.streamlinenet.co.uk who do great hosting too

I use GoDaddy. They're practically as cheap as it's possible to be with Dot Com addresses, so you won't find anything much cheaper, but they have good control over your domain. Some services take most of the control away from you and just let you be the registrant in name only. If you want to do stuff like transfer ownership, move to another registration service, etc you need that kind of control. You might never want it, but it's useful to have. Most of the good services don't vary much on price, so I'd recommend going for one that gives you all the tools to set everything up should you want it.

I use gratisdns.dk, which probably isn't much use to you unless you live in Denmark. If it weren't for them I'd be using GoDaddy.

Just one thing to keep in mind: while being the cheapest / most convenient to do your registration and hosting with a single company, there's also slightly more risk: if the one company goes out of business you lose both your site (files, database, etc.) and domain name at the same time. If there are any disputes about for example your hosting package, they can keep your domain name hostage at the same time.

I doubt that you'll have any issues with godaddy (i use them for my own website as well), but do keep it in the back of your mind.
