Must team fortress 2 be mutliplayed?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Must team fortress 2 be mutliplayed?
Hi all,
Must team fortress 2 be in multiplayer mode?
Could it be possible to play in singer player mode?
(similar to unreal tournament 2004 that has team work in single player mode)
Thanks in advance
:)
There are ( currently ) no bots available in Team Fortress 2. It's ( currently ) multiplayer only. They have said that they want to add bots, but they're not there yet.
Oh Valve is already selling Betas too?
Multiplayer with humans only. Playing with bots would just be boring, repetitive, and unchallenging.

To my knowledge, they've never advertised bots. It's just something they've said ( since release ) that they'd like to add.
I've noticed that there is a tendency releasing a product at a certain stage and then add a few features afterwards to it which honestly should have been there right from scratch so that it looks kind of selling unfinished stuff in the beginning.
I guess it depends whether the features are things which were advertised or are things which you expected. I wouldn't ( and didn't ) expect a game like TF2 to have bots, so if they add them, I would consider it a nice free bonus. If they don't, I won't be bothered.
I can't imagine bots would be particularly useful for a game like TF2, except perhaps to make up numbers on servers which are waiting for players to arrive. On the other hand, they couldn't be any worse than the bunch of eejuts I played with the other day who fired all their ammo off before the round began, then charged out the opening door in a group and got nailed, one after the other by one guy who was parked waiting for them.
I like playing with bots, I do it on battlefield whenb I can't be bothered with team killers. Same with Counterstrike source.
@Gabriel
For instance practicing and getting familiar with, beeing able to play offline too.

TKing is not a problem in TF2, as friendly-fire is always off.
(Valve even removed it as a server-option during beta)

Not sure if you *can* play offline. ( It is Steam after all! ) For practicing and getting familiar with the levels, there are plenty of empty and almost empty servers around for practice. Which is actually kind of a bad thing because some of your stats become pretty meaningless ( any idiot can capture the briefcase when there's no other bugger playing! ) but hey.
Team Fortress has always been a multiplay game. Expecting a single player (or bot) experience just doesn't make any sense. It goes against the grain of the whole TF experience.
@Gabriel
Well, i think there are good resons for bots but hey i'm also not a lot after multiplayer at all so it' sokay this way, i just had a feeling about the tendency.
Reminds me of when i was trying out UT2004(right naming?) when i came to a Japanese server and i got toasted all the time. Bang Boom Bang -> dead...
Technically there are bots, but they don't move or shoot, and sv_cheats has to be on. :)
