Neat concept.

Hello.

Absoutely fantastic concept, but from the comments a flawed implementation. Would like to see how this progresses.

Goodbye.

This is a really clever idea its got some great potential :)

Thats kinda cool actually...

Hmm i'm not excited. Isn't the main idea just about a wacky three axis controller whilst the content is still displayed on another screen?

This would be interesting if a) the cubes would display the content, b) you could use more than one cube which interact with each other and stack them depending on the game concept, c) reworking the controller and d) providing a better game.

Um - hello?

This is fake - it isn't real.

Look at the box as the guy revolves it, the video image appears haphazardly.

Note that on many occasions that the video footage is not quite in line with the box - take note of the edges - the 3D footage (inside the cube) is clearly being overlayed onto the video footage.

The clearest evidence is the silver boarder of the box - sometimes you see it, sometimes it is clearly blacked out by the overlayed video.

This is a clear fake - just concentrate on the edges of the video window - note the edges of the box and the overlayed video image.

It is fake:

and bent.

Puki,

I don't think anyone is in doubt it doesn't actually work like that. It's not a fake, just misleading that people think that the cube has screens on it rather than the output actually appear on your tele.

As it states on that very web page for those people who have the ability to read:
You can only see the rooms and man if you're watching through the monitor. The cube is just a box marked in a way so the camera can recognize which way you have it turned.

huh? It is 3D overlayed on video footage.....that is the point.

Its realtime tracking the edges and matching up the perspective with the virtual contents. The symbols on the sides of the cube are so the software can 'see' which side is showing and which way its up.

do a search for Augmented Reality on youtube puki. You will see more examples of it.

Oh, I see - the video is meant to be fake - not sure I see the point of it.

False alarm, it isn't fake - the video is never on the box.

It's still bent though - who'd want this if the video isn't on the box?

I can see it being a very irritating game - if it does make it into the commerical world.

puki, thats how its supposed to be, its not a real cube.. :p

saying that we've got mancubes in gamestation by us- similar to this, but with mono black & white screen. tack them together and they play with each other!

I guess the main reason for this stuff is more intuative control interfaces, I think we are only seeing the start of this,

Imagine wearing your 'special glasses' in the future and coming up to a menu on a resturant, then being presented with a completely virtual 3D menu. Or being able to play games with your characters interacting in the real world high streets.

look at the second half of this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO7rSzBL1rs&mode=related&search=star%20wars%20spaceport%20mos%20eisly

Imagine walking through your local woods, and being attacked by an orc...

All this is far off, but the technology is there todo it.

welcome to the games of tooo-morow !!!

it would be superb if every side was a little LCD.

Until you dropped it. At least with a 1-screen object, there's a good chance it'll land well.

Why would you be stupid enough to drop it. Thats your fault then.

You wouldn't get the saem effect if it have a display on each side. there wouldn't be a perspective change ans your rotate the box around.

Until you dropped it. At least with a 1-screen object, there's a good chance it'll land well.

That's what plastic outer-casings are for.

This kind of stuff would be much cooler when we're able to produce screens that trick the human eye into perceiving real depth.....and I await that day.

I just liked the concept.
