Developing for Windows Mobile

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Developing for Windows Mobile

Any tips on where to start with developing for Windows Mobile v6, particularly game dev?

Any Blitz-like languages, or will I need to use C++ / C# / J2ME?

Never developed anything with Windows mobile before but I'm going to assume that if it allows for java apps to run, then you can try Midlet Pascal...

MS used to give away the Development Kit for pocketPC's. Called Embeded C++ or something. I suspect it is still free.

If you have the latest visual studio I belive they have a free SDK addon for mobile devices.

A search on the web should have examples of writing games in these.

Also there is PPL from here

http://www.arianesoft.ca

which isnt free but seems to be pretty good and I think they have a free download version to try out. It actually lets you develop on the PC ( WIndows ) and if you feel the need on the Mobile machine itself.

You can do it with Visual Studio.

Or you can take a look at www.game-editor.com it can develop for Windows, Mobile, and GP2X
