Just finished Quake 4
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Just finished Quake 4
Yeah beat the nexus! Was OK towards the end that game. Bit samey though, not the best of games. Anyway, now I can pick and choose which FPS to play next. I have a load of old ones I got cheap inc:
Jedi Academy (this appeals)
Deux Ex: Invisible War
- Anachronox (ancient Quake II engine)
- Hitman 2 (so old I don' know if I can be bothered)
- Unreal II (yes seriously I own this)
- Vietcong. (I like this sort of game)
- Prince of Persia - Warrior Within
- FEAR (supposed to be pretty neat)
- Serious Sam II (I loved the first one and the kinda second one)
Haven't bought HL2 yet or anything more modern. May wait until I get a new PC/graphics card as my Radeon 9800XT is 3.5 years old now. In fact I'm wondering if it'll cope with FEAR (@800x600 or something)?
I could always just devote some time to finishing off Dialo II (with expansion pac) or playing Shadows of Undrentide (mission pack for Neverwinter). Probably I ought to finish Arx Fatalis as I got really near the end...
These are my "nightime" games. Casual games are more for the daytime and playing with the kids. Got some console games I ought finish too like Devel May Cry 3 (PS2) and Tomb Raider: Lengens (PS2), ooh and Broken Sword: Sleeping Dragon.
Choice, mmm, I like chosing a new game to play :-)
Anachronox is not an FPS :) It's more like watered down Final Fantasy clone with an adventure twist :) Great game, though...
How can you play all those? I still haven't finished Stalker.
The only ones in that list I haven't beaten are Anachronox (would if I could, don't have it though), Unreal 2, and Serious Sam 2. Vietcong was best in multiplayer, the realism features were absolutely nuts and really made it amazingly fun. There was a Vietcong 2 some time ago I think, but I don't think it really worked out the same way as the original.
FEAR is awesome, and if you like it you should look up Project Origins (not out yet, but it's the sequel). Something about little undead girls that works so well for scary things.

You must be not be playing it much, or you have terrible aim. I beat it in about three days.
Josh: Stalker has 7 endings TWO of which are the true endings the others are just there for the speed monkeys ;)
Funny part: I got the true ending (good one).
Another vote for FEAR. I finished it last week and twas very good.
Hello.
Goodbye.
haha at Soggy P. There is no Larn3D...
OK thanks people, FEAR seems to be getting good votes. I'm pretty interested to try out Anachronox before it looks WAY to dated. I like to finish all my games you see. The amount of FPS games I've finished since Doom is monumental.
I haven't looked up Stalker. Any good then?
Stalker is great, but your graphics card will suffer... :-)
Serious Sam II is pretty lame... The first two episodes are much better imho.
Diablo II is a (pixellated) masterpiece.
Half-On-Half-off topic.
we bought Fear for the PS3 a few weeks ago- and found they had removed half of the sound effects from the PC version. it kinda sucked in comparison.
I guess i'm just getting used to using a mouse and keyboard these days, and I'm playing consoles less and less....

I'll upgrade first then.

Shame to hear that.
Diablo II is a (pixellated) masterpiece.
totally agreed, way addictive and takes AGES to play especially due to not being able to save and reload anywhere, what a pain.
Cygnus: I don't play FPS on consoles. I spent my 20s playing everything since Doom on a PC and console FPSs just feel clunky and inaccurate. I play "console" games on consoles like 3D platformers, racers, etc.
Go for HalfLife 2 and the two new episodes, they even run on a 4 year old computer with a radeon 9550 at a decent speed. Just finished the episode 2 and I must say, valve rocks!
I agree, HL2 is very flexible!
I just burnt out the pixel units on my card but by adding -DXlevel7 to the command line options in steam, Hl2 runs using no shaders and I can still play!
Devel May Cry 3? It is brilliant but can be hard depending what diffclut level you have select.
LADY Vampire on level 9 was quite hard but when you are that close to killing the vampire....then make sure you stay away from LADY VAMPIRE all time otherwise she will suck your enegry bar then you will die!
So if you keep good distance from LADY VAMPIRE then You will beat her and go on next level :)
GOOD LUCK
Mortiis: Well I loved the first one years ago and I'm very tempted by this but because it hasn't dropped that low in price I haven't got it yet. I ought to finish some of my current games, then upgrade and play HL2 and it should rock on a new PC.
Cyg: That's cool!
Hotshot2005: Thanks for the tip. I've already played quite far, but not that I far think.
what level are you ? level 7?
Daikatana!
HL2 is modern? Guess you should add Far Cry to the list..
Hotshot2005: Can't remember, was playing it >1 year ago and stopped for one reason or another but intend to finish it. Beat some giant caterpillar thing. Got further than that.
Beat Daikatana years back, it was OK. Had it's moments.
Yeah beat Far Cry when my Radeon 9800XT was new and hot. Was good.
Can get FarCry for free though if that means anything, just need to bare with ads for the 'free' version.
Never knew that.
Anyway I thought I save FEAR until I have a better video card so started playing Unreal II. It's totally uninspiring so far :-(
I've got Hitman 2 too... Still not installed or played it though... Supposed to be very very good though.
