Does Neverwinter Nights 2 have Coop?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Does Neverwinter Nights 2 have Coop?

Basically I love coop esp. on RPGs so does it have coop and has anyone used it? Thanks. If not, can you recommend any others. Thx

I'm pretty sure it does, as Neverwinter Nights 1 did and that was pretty much the biggest selling point for it. I've got NWN2 here somewhere, but haven't played it much (no time to get addicted to any RPGs.. or play any long games, really), so I can't say I'm entirely sure.

Other games you should check out, however, are Icewind Dale and Baldurs Gate, as they both play very well cooperatively. Icewind Dale is more action-oriented than other games like Baldurs Gate, so you might keep that in mind if you're looking for story over actual gameplay. Not that there isn't any story to it, but it's less pronounced than in Neverwinter Nights and such.

Thanks Noel. Yes I'm wary of getting addicted to another RPG, but I'm pretty sure I can drip feed myself sensibly.

I've played Baldurs 1 and 2 and the mission packs, and Icewind Dale (+HoW). In fact I'm planning to do Icewind Dale II soon. Also ages ago I did Planescape Torment, that was cool.

So any others (good ones) with coop that aren't on that list? I can't really think of any but I'm not up to date. Can you play Oblivion coop? Thanks.

Well, there's Arcanum, but it's buggy as all heck and I've had no luck getting the online aspect to work. Can't play Oblivion or any other Elder Scrolls games multiplayer, they're strictly one-player games.

Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption can be played in a cooperative mode of sorts. The idea there is that there are seperate stories made specifically for multiplayer mode, and adding new stories to it isn't that difficult from what I've heard (only played it, never tried making my own stuff). There is a dungeon master-esque mode that lets you more or less control every tiny aspect of the game too, but like I said, I never did much with it.

Yes. However you're going to need a fairly high-end graphics card to play it - both of you.

Mission accomplished.

Good point. Her Laptop is a brand new vista one with 2GHz Dual Core and 2GB RAM and I made sure the graphics were OK but they are not fab so it may not run the game very well. My PC has an AT 9800XT which is old but reasonable. I may be upgrading next year anyway.

My laptop has a GeForce 7300 Go (if memory serves) which is not enough to run it in the screens native resolution (1200x800) with a decent framerate.

That's nowhere near enough. I have an X1650XT in my Desktop, and that's only just passable.

I've got no probs with running it lower res, like 800x600. Sad to hear my Radeon 9800XT doesn't cut it for NW2. In that case the laptop won't either as my PC is still way faster than the laptop.
