New Toy!

May I draw your attention on the right hand side of my desk to my shiny new Alesis MultiMix12 Firewire mixing desk...

Very cool bit of kit, not only is it a mixing desk but pumps directly into the computer via Firewire so no loss of audio from desk to computer... Not only, but also, it works as a sound card (sort of) too so I can pump output direct from the computer into the desk...

Shiny eh!

Fwarrr!

Why do your speakers have headphones on? And what's that blue thingy on the left hand side?

Firewire mixing desk huh? What will they think of next...

The speakers have headphones on as it's a good place to store headphones when not in use.

The blue thingy is a Behringer V-Amp2... It's a guitar amp simulator jobbie... Basically makes my guitar go DaaaaaaAAAAHHHHHH to Drrrring and varying degrees inbetween with various fx and stuff lumped on the top for good measure.

Oh... And just finished installing the latest drivers for the mixing desk, and it's got a synth on board too so you can use it as a sound card! Result!

It looks a lot cooler than my Pod.

Hey.. cool toy..

I've got a V-Amp 2 too.. :)
I haven't got as big mixer as yours, but I do have a Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer (4/6 port), which is nice to use when I got sound from the guitar, Linux PC and iMac going into the same speaker system. :)

Funnily enough I just upgraded to this from a UB802... Nice little desk is the 802 but needed more inputs and a better way to get sound into the computer... The Alesis seemed like the perfect choice.

Nice. What's it for? Can you beam Scottie up with it?

LOL.

Nice - beats software knobs every time.

It looks very exciting.

Grrrr.... Crappy drivers.... Grrrr.... Need to contact Alesis tech support.... Grrrr.... Doesn't work as described in the manual...

Right... Going to installed the bundled cubase to see if everything suddenly bursts into life when you use that. Grrrr.... Not happy.

Grrrr.... No support for Linux... Grrrr.... My plan was to buy myself a new computer at some point soon and turn this machine into a Linux music machine.... Grrrr... Argh... etc
