Does orange box includes HF2-Episode 1?

Does orange box includes HF2-Episode 1?
Or, do we need to install HF2-Episode 1 before installing orange box?

It's in the Orange Box. For that matter, you do not need Episode 1 to do anything ever. I do not believe you need HL2 to play Episode 1, either, but I could be wrong as I do not know why you'd buy only Episode 1 and not HL2 first.

After installing several CD, I had to download overnight in order to activate the steam account for off-line playing!)

As you said, I simply open the orange box and install them, without taking care of previous HL2 CD?

I'm still waiting for a box that contains only Ep2, TF2 and Portal, but I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever come...

And Peggle EXTREME! (Which has cute little animals with headcrabs attached to them.)

Seconded. If Valve think I'm going to pay for two games I already paid for once ( even if they *do* say I can give them away ) then they better think again.

You could also see it the way that you're paying the price for Ep2, TF2 and Portal (20+20+10) and on top of that get HL2 and EP1 for free...

You should just buy the orange box. It's only $44.95, that's easily worth it even for just TF2, portal and Ep:2.

Considering I'll never play TF2, and probably never play Portal, and if EP:2 is as long as Ep:1, I'll finish it in four hours, you and I have differing views on worth.


I could, but considering I'm already buying a pack with one game I'll never play and one I may never play, I just wouldn't consider it good value anyway.

How can you not want to play Portal? It looks very very good. Oh well, each to their own.

It's probably simply that ep:2 is only a few hours long that it's not being released on it's own.

Valve are set to review their episodic release policy soon, so we may see some changes in available packs. i.e. A half life pack, that gives you a discount based on episodes you already own would be a good idea. I.e. HL2 pack = $40, -$20 HL2, -$10 Episode 1 = $10 to pay for episode 2

I agree with Gabriel, if HL2 and Ep1 are free, why was the BlackBox going to be cheaper?

they're not free, you can give them away to people.

If you buy the starwars trilogy on DVD for £25, that's not £25 for return fo the jedi, and then empire and new hope are free. It's a complete pack you pay for. Same with orange box.

I know there not free, thats the point Im making, if I want the Orange Box, I have to pay for something I already Have.

You can give free things away as well you know.

Its not important anyway, cos I intend to get EP2 by itself

Can't you buy the games individually via steam?

I definitely want to play Portal! It looks way cooler than its predecessor Narbacular Drop, which is also fun and confusing.

I don't know. I assume so, but I don't ( as a rule ) buy from people who want to keep my credit card details after purchase, which I think ( correct me if I'm wrong ) is how Steam works? If they had some kind of buy-once-then-dispose-of-my-details approach or a "load credits from PayPal" option or anything like that, then I'd do that.

I have no idea of steam beside of that i don't like it. If HL2 wouldn't be such a damn good game i would never deal with them.

I thought the whole idea behind episodic content was we would pay a smaller amount more frequently for an extension to a popular game. Instead we must pay as much as a new game for the product we want, with a lot of other shit thrown in to justify the price. I'm not paying $50 for an add-on to HL2.

I've spend $96 on collector's edition of Half-Life 2, so there's no way I'm paying again.
Not to mention that I have little interest in online mode...

E1 for $10
E2 for $30

So three episodes may sum up to $90 in a whole. I wonder how this compares to a $50 HL2.

Right, from what I can see - Episode 2 is on their servers as a stand-alone purchase. It looks like they are not letting it out of the bag until launch time. Looks to me like they want to shift as much of the bundle packs as possible (ie confusing people into paying more for the bundle packs), then uploading the stand-alone.

To play Episode 2, TF2 or Portal, do we need to register another stream account and then download for a period of time?

Puki was right, Episode 2 is now available separately.

I was wrong too, apparently you *can* make Steam purchases from your PayPal account without them keeping the details.

So with those two facts in mind, I have just purchased and am currently downloading episode 2.

Valve stiffed me.

I selected the PayPal option - next thing I know, PayPal email to say they have shut my account down due them believing a 3rd party was trying to access it.

Sorry to hear that. I was a bit worried about how Steam would integrate with Paypal, but it worked perfectly for me, even in FireFox ( you know what people are like with supporting anything other than IE. )

Now I tried purchasing via my card through Steam.

I got a message saying my card was declined. I tried again and it stated my card company has identified the use of the card as potentially fraudulant.

Now, let's guess here?

Maybe Valve will now shut down my Steam account altogether?

So, I have lost my Paypal account - now I might have had my card shut down too.

Well, that was fun. Guess I won't be playing Episode 2.

I've never had a problem with Paypal or my card before - so can only assume this problem relates to Valve/Steam.

I've tried purchasing Orange Box (for HL2: EP2 and Portal, and bonus TF2), but I had HL2 and HL2:EP1 before... Anyhow, with my credit card, the STEAM system replied, after a solid 5 minutes wait, that the steam system is too busy and to try again in a few hours.

took me 3 hours to finish portal ... hoped for a little more somehow ... hope this is only some kind of beta and not the final ... only 19 levels where none needs more than 15min to complete (beside 19) is kind of a joke. not even an indie would have sold this as stand alone for that price ...

puki: you won't get your steam account closed. But you will be phoned by your card company as they will be notified of it and ask you if you tried to buy or someone else.

I finally purchased Orange Box. The neat thing is the Gift idea. Since I already had HL2 and HL2:EP1, I can give them to a friend. Anyhow, I liked the idea. Now I can't play as I'm downloading them and have to go to work.... LOL.

Selling them is expressly forbidden.

Then give them for a gift return. That better?
Selling a secondary license key can at best be forbidden within USA, everywhere else it is my right to sell a secondary license that is not used which is quite clearly the case as Steam stuff is account bound after its first usage.
