Wow, is that like normal for an ATI Radeon 9800XT? I just upgraded my catalyst drivers and it told me that was the temp, just running windows XP, not even a game. I'm not overdriving or anything. Perhaps a fan has broken.
My ATI runs at 87degrees Celcius!
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/My ATI runs at 87degrees Celcius! Hmmm. My X1800XT is currently idling at 58c. When I've checked after a gaming session it's normally around 75-80c, so there may be a problem with yours unless the sensor is knackered.
One thing you could try is playing a game that would test it. If it is over heating you would see some sort of graphical corruption or dropped textures.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the HD 2900Pro would run at? That's the card I'm looking into to stick in my new build.
Just tried out Quake 4 for a few hours and afterwards it was running at 91 degrees.
Pertabatio: You link just has a page that says "Your support portal session has expired due to inactivity". Did it have something useful on it?
lol, my friend was like 98 celcius once

Was he dead at that point?
I fried my 9800PRO during shader programming. I think they run quite on the edge. It also ran fine for many years before when i wasn't doing such things.
i had a gfx card ati XXX and it was so hot the Fan melted. probably cause the fan stopped spinning.
my hardware supplyer gave me another card for free. and returnerd the broken one to fabric.
this new card havent melted yet. so that must have ben fabric error on that paricular card.
How did i notice that it burned up ?
- On the games i suddenlty there was Holes in mech. like whole triangles went missing. i investigated the drivers etc.. finaly i opened the case to see if the card was in slot.. it was then i notice that the Fan was on the floor of the case. the gfx card was running widout a fan. :)

Wow, a serious fever.. :P

My X1900XT idles at 47c. With the stock fan, the card reached temperatures in excess of yours (~95c), and it was really noisy. Games crashed frequently. I purchased an Accelero X2 and I've never looked back. It's now whisper quiet, and my temps have never passed 70c at full load.
Oh, and I also use ATITool because of its great control over the fans on my X2 (and the performance gains).

Milky Joe: Thanks for the App. Interesting, ATI catalyst control centre says 87 degrees and that app says 67 degress, weird...
