Jeez, my SPAM is getting out of hand. :/
I got 170 this morning - most were just the exact same one mailed to me like 10 times each! At this rate, my email address is going to be unuseable.
Anyone else noticed an increase in SPAM lately? Is it likely to die down after a while? *crosses fingers*
If I ever meet a spammer, I'm gonna ring his fooking neck! >:(
I've had phases where I've got none and it's been lush, but I get tons now, mainly at night.
"We'd better get back, 'cause it'll be dark soon, and they mostly come at night... mostly."
Nope, you will get more and more spam over time, unless you do something about it...
I use dspam and spamassassin on my mail server with great results. Besides that I check reverse DNS records before I accept SMTP connections. My mailbox is clean (99.2% of the spam is filtered out, dpam is incredibly good at its job).
PLS
I uses Mail-Washer, and setup rigth it takes allmost everything.
Well, I don't know about running anything on the mail server. That's the domain of my ISP.
Annoyingly, my ISP uses a SPAM filter as all spam is marked with *SPAM* - they still just pass it straight on to me, though. :/
I dont use a spam filter, and I dont get spam.
Seriously.. Just dont give away that email adress, and dont use any email program prone to having its adress book snooped at!
The email addy that I sign up to your normal websites with is a hotmail "spammail" account. i use it when i need to register somewhere.
my normal every day person to person account, provided by my ISP, is absolutely spam free, and I don't give it to anyone really.
Someday, i'll email someone using outlook and my adress will get out ;)
for now, Type your email adress in google to see what comes up, if anything more than 0, your spam levels are going nowhere.
Hmmm, well, I admit I use OU but I've always used it and havent had a problem before.
Googling my email results in 1 hit but that particular page has been up for years.
Just had another 52 spam mails. :/
I have spam come in like crazy. If I don't check it for 2 days, then I get 80 new messages. I've tried blocking them because they are all from the same group except the email addresses are always random.
IE:
"Gas Pricer" <may.hughes@...;
"Gas Pricer" <jim.koons@...;
"Gas Pricer" <samantha.killjoy@...;
Too bad my ISP won't let me block the domain name...
The only piece of spam I ever got was a buy vaigra. Yay for gmail!
Gotta agree - gmail spam filter is extremely good
Ked, don't rely on your ISP to handle spam.
I use the old mailbox dispatcher v1
http://www.anti-spam-tools.com/ to filter spam. It's free and simple to use. You can filter domain names with it, probably with others but that's what I use. I use the friends list system instead of the spam list as it's easier to manage. It deletes emails and then you launch outlook.

Set up a message rule in your email app to send any emails with *SPAM* in the subject line to the Deleted Items folder.
Am I the only person in the world who just uses Thunderbird? I get roughly 400 spam e-mails every 8 hour period. They just go rushing right past.
Anyone else noticed an increase in SPAM lately?
Not really. If anything my spam is currently in decline.
Is it likely to die down after a while?
LOL! No. Seriously. Never.
Thunderbird user here aswell (on both win and osx).. :)
Is it likely to die down after a while?
It might. A few years back I got spam every day for several months then it died down, all of a sudden. I still get spam but it's a lot less, about 3 daily now. I don't know why it stopped but it was around the time they caught a spam king in the US. So probably only if the spammer is arrested.

Heh - didn't even know I could do this. Cheers.

Yeah, I used to get loads of those stocks/shares spams but then they just dried up. That's why I was wondering if my spam rate is likely to die down after a time. Probably not - I'll just have to wait and see.
Cheers all.

/me slaps big10p with a giant spam fritter.
lycos mail is pretty good,
I only get a couple of spammy emails a week - 1&1 email filtering is very good.

I use it.
