Here is an enlightening Google Tech Talk!
It is about a course where one builds a very simple computer system from the ground up. It is definitely demystifying, but that doesn't stop it from also showing how incredibly complex these things are. This has rekindled (and helped) my interest in figuring out what actually happens when we make programs run.
(Also strange to note that the URL at the end is pointing to a page on Google's local network, and there isn't a disclaimer, and it says Confidential... looks like they uploaded it prematurely).
Now, I want that software!
Is there any open courseware, or other such online resource, similar to this course in terms of easiness and breadth? (I don't feel like moving to Israel :P).
Aha, they hid an address at the end!:
http://www1.idc.ac.il/tecs/
Still, any other things you know of would be interesting to see.
