bmax and realtime sounds

I am very knew to linux and use now bmax in it.
So my question is : is there something like winmm but under linux ? (i've mandriva 2007)

oss and alsa, the current bmx driver files can be found in the folder blitzmax\mod\pub.mod\freeaudio.mod
