Makes you sad if you read that LucasArts were working on a better looking Full Throttle and skipped that... :O/ LucasArts was so much pleasure those days and is such a pain since they are over.
Looking mightily impressive. Can't believe this type of game isn't as popular as it was.
LucasArts, the good old days.
Haven't seen a good adventure in a while.
Just bought Sam&Max Episode 1, it's ok, but these mini episodes are really not my taste... :/

Mmm. I'm not too keen on the Sam&Max episodes either. For one thing I've yet to be convinced by episodic gaming, and for another, Sam & Max suck in general.
In fact, the first Sam & Max game was the only classic Lucasarts adventure that I disliked, and even that was superior to Tell Tale's efforts.

I think Episode 5 and 6 were really good but i also dislike those Episodes and favour adventures in a whole with a big story and new things to explore. One of the things TTG did wrong was reusing the same settings way too often. And as it seems they sadly reuse lot's of the characters for season 2.
Anyway what i enjoyed more than Sam&Max from TTG was Jack Keane from Deck13 were the englisch version is about to be released this year too. A very solid 8.
I wonder who actually will come up with a real 9 after all the years. Hopefully AVST is not too much into the casual direction.

I really like Telltale's Sam & Max episodes, but I miss the enormously complex world. The episodes only have a few little areas each, whereas something like Sam & Max Hit the Road had a new area every five minutes. It was a very interesting affair, since finding something could not be done by random clicking, and figuring out everything was remarkably complicated.
Telltale's episodes work more like an interactive animated film, in that they are not nearly as broad, but they definitely do work...

If you mean Sam and Max Hit the Road, I hated that too. Couldn't see anything in it, complete rubbish alongside Day of The Tentacle ( which I think was on sale at the same time. )
Yet when I played Episode 1 of this new Sam and Max series, I felt completely different. I thought it was very funny, well-written, and well-acted. I don't know if I changed or Sam and Max changed, but TellTale's version was right up my street.
I'm not sure about Vampyre Story. The whole Tim Burton angle is either going to work brilliantly or flop like a fat man who just slipped off the the highdive. I'm definitely interested, but I think I'll need to see a demo. Whereas, I'll be handing over another $35 ( ish ) in November without a second thought when Season 2 of Sam and Max launches.
Hate to be pedantic - but it's more vintage Hammer Films/Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers than Tim Burton. I'm kind of nerdy about old 50s/60s/early 70s period set horror movies. Sorry.
You really should start playing Season 1 first! ;O) Quality improves a lot with the later Episodes.

The text of the interview with the author acknowledges that it's influenced by both Tim Burton and Hammer films. I just singled out the Tim Burton aspects because ( I assume ) it's a comic adventure and because it's those Tim Burton influences which are hit and miss. They'll either work very well or very badly. The Hammer influences probably aren't going to polarize, they're very like to be popular.

Heheh, I really should :) They're top of my pile now, honest!
Ah, ok then. I was only going on the screenshots, which to my eyes exhibit clear references to Hammer gothic horror and to The Fearless Vampire Killers, but show very little Burton gothic sensibilities. But I suppose the author knows better than me!
By the way, Day of the Tentacle is fanastic.

Same here. Probably my favorite adventure game of all time. Unfortunately not in puzzle/gameplay aspect, but I have some kind of unhealthy attachment to it... It makes me feel like a kid again...
I've never liked the original Sam & Max game (but I'm in love with the tv show - the dvd is finally on the way!) and found it to be the least of LucasArts adventures, but replaying it recently after episode 1 of TellTale games was surprisingly refreshing. It's not a great game by all means, but it shows the kind of production quality that TellTale is unable to give to its products.
No comment on VS until I actually play it. Just hate to judge something before the facts are in. But I've certainly liked the "adventure games aren't dead. They are UNDEAD!" statement ;) Very cute...
If you want something to play in the mean time check out The Longest Journey http://www.longestjourney.com/
Its quite old now so should be pretty easy to get ahold of and cheap on ebay. Got quite good reviews at the time too, and I did quite like the demo.

Loved Day of the Tentacle!
I also think that Sam&Max wasn't the best LucasArts adventure but the Mount Rushmore scene was very funny.
I actually recall laughing out loud at the 3D section especially when Sam is trying to pull the sword out of the stone. :)

What? Back when they shipped working games, and before they'd bastardized and dumbed down all their IP?I have no faith left in Lucas Arts at all. In my opinion their best adventure game ever was LOOM. It was funny, innovative and had a great story. The only reason I'm glad they haven't made a sequel is because I know with absolute certainty, they'd screw it up.
I don't think he needed to mention that he was at the same place like Tim Burton ... his characters speak for themself ^^
Actually he stated that he wasn't only inspired by Tim Burton...
I liked that farenheit/indigo prophecy game with the simon says action sequences lol. That recent one Jack Keane might be good, the main character looks like a relation to full throttle lol.
Good adventure games are pretty rare today. There are a lot of budget ones but not many stand out as being good.

For those (hopefully the minority) who have no idea what the fuzz about Monkey Island is all about. Beware! This is full of spoilers... :O)
