Writing .iso to CD

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Writing .iso to CD

Hi, have downloaded the memory test 86 file in .iso format but am having no joy making a boot disc.

I've tried a few different programs but none work.

It can't be that hard to create a bootable disc - can I not just copy files from a 'created cd'

Thanks
Jim

You need a CD/DVD burner program to burn an ISO file, e.g. Nero or similar. These will be able to burn the ISO correctly. You can't just copy the files to a CD.

Here a free one http://cdburnerxp.se/

I don't think this one will work with Vista.
And Linux has a few choice that you can install
Mac OS X.... Well I haven't looked yet

I think the DiscJuggler demo will write iso's also.

I highly recommend the freeware utility ISO Recorder! It's sole purpose is to burn ISOs and has worked flawlessly for me whenever I've needed to burn an image. Just make sure you download the correct version for your Windows set-up.

Thanks guys much apprecaited.

Used CDBurnerXp and it worked a treat.

Thanks for speedy help.
Jim

ImgBurn is hands down the single best program for such things, and it's also costless.

On OS X, you can use the built in Disk Utility application.

But Toast is better :)
