OK so I finished Paper Mario on Gamecube with sons aged 6 and 3 and it was great, one of the best games ever. Now what can I play next on Gamecube or PS2 that is equally great? I realise that Paper Mario is a hard game to match in quality/playability so what is close maybe and suitable for me and my boys. I really appreciate any suggstions you can offer.

Is that for Wii? If so, you are probably correct, I need to buy a Wii :-) [edit] OK just found out it got 8.9 for GC on Gamespot, cool.

Wii: Super Paper Mario (oops, forgot to say awesome)
Wii: The legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (awesome)
Wii: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. (haven't played it yet, probably awesome)

Super Paper Mario is better than the ones before, the ending is great, and the gameplay is cool.
One world is called "The Bitlands", and each pixel is like 10 pixels wide o.O
You can flip between 2D and 3D dimensions, and it's a major part of gameplay.
One part that is kind of annoying tho, doesn't really use the awesomeness of the Wii Remote (you have the remote sideways most of the time)

I call it the "Wii Remote" instead of the "Wiimote" because somebody took away the right for Nintendo to say it (bad, bad people!!!) so I decided not to say it either.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is often overlooked, but it's a great platform / shooter / action game, if a little hard on later levels. May not suit young kids though.
Starfox Adventures bored me to death. I'm sure some people loved it, but I couldn't get on with it.
Zelda: The Wind Waker is good, but only once you've got the boat and sail and can move around between islands at will. I found the amount of side-quests and things you can do slightly overwhelming though!
[EDIT] Hmm, you probably meant Twilight Princess, so never mind!
My wife completed Pikmin 2 and really enjoyed it, although it looked kind of repetitive to me.
Mario Golf is very good, with lots of nice RPG type touches, but at the end of the day it's still a golf game.
Personally I reckon Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year door is infinitely better than Super Paper Mario.

Avon, OK thx for the info. I've completed Wind Waker, it was great. I could let my eldest son play it as he was too little to understand it when I played it.

There's the shop channel, the mii channel the picture channel, the everybody votes channel, the News channel, the Weather Channel, and, of course, the disc channel!

Don't forget the VC games you can play on the Wii (or get an old SNES on ebay, might be cheaper).
Donky Kong Country 2 - great jump&run
Bomberman 93 - awesome multiplayer fun
Hopefully Nintendo will release some more topgames for the VC. In particular I'm missing Dr. Mario
Talking about the Wii, BrainAcademy and WarioWares are great party games. And Rockstar's tabletennis got good reviews.
yup bomberman on VC is great fun. it works with the wiimote, so no need for the classic controller to get some classic 4 player action...
do you reckon GC games will ever make it onto the VC? I can't really see why not, and would like to play some of them (Paper Mario:TYD being one...)
GC games are waaay too big. They won't fit into the Wii memory, never mind how long they would take to download.
If they bring out a Hard Disk attachment (not unlikely) then it would be just about possible but still unlikely seeing as the original disks work anyway.

You can play GameCube games on the Wii right? How do the look? The same or worse? My PS2 played PS1 games but they looked crap.
They look and play exactly the same. The Wii is based on an enhanced GC chipset so there's no emulation going on, GC games run natively.
They look the same. The Wii hardware wise is basically an updated gamecube. You can plug in the original GC controllers and memory cards into the side of the Wii.

hmm, interesting, I guess there are many good XBox games but I never bothered with it because I had a PC. Can the Xbox360 play old XBox games?

Better to wait for the next 360 batch that runs much cooler using smaller fabrication of the chips. Should be out soon if it isn't already.
I don't have any consoles at the moment, but will probably get a 360 eventualy. Need a new TV first though. Most games are designed with HDTV in mind and the text is hard to read on a regular TV being too small.
Theres almost 400 backward compatible xbox titles for 360 now.
But what % of overall titles is that? Like it could be only 20%...
Heres another vote for a 2nd hand xbox and fable, or flab as my kids call it. You can pick up a 2nd hand x-box with four games for 50-60 quid at your nearest game outlet.

For now I bought Starfox as, apart from Zelda and Mario Golf, all the other games on my list were 12+ and Starfox is suitable for 3 year olds. I'll see if I find it boring. It was £7 on ebay, so no big deal :)

Zelda Wind Waker does. I must have only been 3 to 4 hours into it before I had enough. I'd be interested to hear your impression of it.

not one to play with your kids... but Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games on the gamecube, check it out if you haven't yet.
