Don't know if anyone has read about this so I thought I'd post.

Anyone thinking of buying a new cpu should at least wait for this new set of chips to be released.

:)

[edit] Can anyone find any info on what can be expected in the ghz dept? Will they exceed 3ghz?

I think they will be pushing it abit to exceed 3GHz. I believe they are pushing it now with the Core2, but they will slam more processing cores and cache memory on to the to make up for any difference.

I read about it a couple of weeks ago but didn't realise that they would be releasing the new tech so soon :)

I think we'll start seeing the gradual progression towards massive parallelism with lots of cores, rather than this focus on trying to make each core super-speedy or super-small.

The problem is going to be with the software - how do you start writing new software with existing languages (Blitz included) to take advantage of having, say, 64 or more cores.
