Computer games can make you feel ashamed

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Computer games can make you feel ashamed

I am re-playing Half-Life 2.

I was on the level with the dune buggy thing - where you are driving along the coast. I parked the buggy were the road was collapsed so that I could take a look around.

I noticed a seagull on the ground - sort of walking about in a small area. I've never noticed a seagull on the ground in HL2 before, so I walk up to it - it didn't fly away. I assumed this was some sort of bug. I got back in the buggy to drive off. I (purposely) aimed the buggy at the seagull and sort of attempted to run it over. Anyway, after driving forwards and backwards over the seagull - trying to line my wheels up with it, I realised the seagull could not be killed by running it over.

This was becoming intriguing as I am sure this must be a bug.

Anyway, as a sort of test, I hit it with my crowbar - it let out a seagull scream and blood spurted out of it and it fell down dead.

I've not felt so bad since I played Oblivion whereby the wolves let out a dog-like scream of pain when you kill them.

I feel very guilty and ashamed.

I wish I hadn't killed it now - I could have tried the gravity gun on it to see if I could suck it in and then fire it out to sea.

It must have been stupid to let puki near it anyway.

What kind of monster are you...

The seagull quite clearly tricked you into killing it. That counts as suicide that does.

That's just a nosebleed..it's fine...

LOL that reminds me of everytime I start Unreal from the beginning, right when I get to level 2, I kill the rabbit that's right in front of me :) it then turns into a red blob
*shiver*

next time you go to the beach and seagulls are flying down to attack you, you'll know why - lol

Was half life 2 made in Blitz3D?

Was half life 2 made in Blitz3D?

Yes. And with only seven lines of code.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Scrape it up and have yourself a HL2-BBQ.

Was half life 2 made in Blitz3D?
No, but it stands testament to that can be done with DX7

Although it doesn't use DX7 when all effects are on. It only falls back to a dX7 renderer.

Yes. And with only seven lines of code.

*lol* :O)

The seven lines:

While KeyDown(1) = False
  DoHalfLife2()
  UpdateWorld
  RenderWorld
  Flip
Wend
End

haha about the seagul. I know what you mean, you gotta try and kill the wildlife just from a curiosity point of view. Clearly it was a bug though that you couldn't run it over.

No, but it stands testament to that can be done with DX7

I'm guessing you've never seen it running in DX7 mode.

Everything is fair game in video games. I used to delight in kicking the elves carrying the power-ups around in Golden Axe. :)

yeah gimme that meat (even though I'm vegetarian). Bet you tried to flame the villagers too...

Ah yes, the fire-breathing dragon you could ride - I'd forgotten about that.

It was (and is) a classic. But those cowardly beasts would sometimes run away! Especialy at night. Why couldn't the hero's tether them up? Well probably because it would screw up the next level if you carried them across :-)

But they deserved to be kicked. Because they were annoying.

Computer games can make you feel ashamed?

Yes openly admitting to owning Halo 2 for the PC (Quake 2's models and game play were far more superior).

And don't be ashamed or feel guilty about killing a seagull.
Just think of them as flying rats and your helping to stop the spread of diseases.

But they deserved to be kicked. Because they were annoying.

I always thought that they were thieves or something... Or was it my conscience justifying the fact that I just kicked the s#1t out of a innocent little person and stole everything he had in his little bag?
