To WHOM - that's right, it's 2007 and I just used the word WHOM - it may concern... ^_
I've been a major Protean IDE fan since I started using it, about a year and a half ago. Blox, my current game, (complete and soon on the market!) was almost entirely created using Protean. The customizability was awesome, the power was great, and it had some great gimmicks, like the "Regions" feature. (Protean fans will know what I'm talking about; it doesn't matter to anyone else.) Heck, I still say it was/is a very good IDE, ESPECIALLY since it's free! But I don't use it any more.
I've discovered IDEal.
Okay, my own personal computer is a 1999 HP, packing a 534Mhz Celeron, 256MB RAM (NOT DDR,) and a mere 16MB of graphics memory. (I recently installed XP Pro, which runs great.) Protean IDE won't even run on it, and when I tried to open the Blox source, now over 100KB in size, it took THREE MINUTES for the B3D IDE to load. @___@
Then I installed IDEal 0.8.87. I opened Blox. Five seconds for a complete load. WOAH! Then I look at my code, which has loads of red lines. Errors? I don't think so! What's wrong with you, IDEal! Then I look around, and find out the benefits of declaring Locals as well as Globals & Constants, so that IDEal can pick out the "bad code." I find an error that I didn't know about, as well as a redundant variable that I don't even remember creating. I start work on a new game, this time seperating it into several files contained in a project, instead of one huge source file.
I have to tell you, I'm in love.
It's fast. It's simple. It's powerful. It's useful. IDEal is everything I've been looking for, and more, for the same price as Protean: $0.00!
To those of you who, in the past, recommended me to IDEal instead of Protean, I see your point, and I thank all of you. To those of you who are still looking for the perfect Blitz IDE, try IDEal before you give up hope. For those of you who still love Protean, you really should try IDEal at least once. I DON'T think you'll be disappointed.
IDEal rules! And Blox is coming out soon! HOORAY!!! XD
