FL Studio Tuts?

Anyone got a good place for a noob to learn FL Studio 7 (Producer)? I've had it for a year now but I havn't done much with it, but now I want to. I've taken a couple tutorials and know the very basics, like how to make a simple tune using the sequencer and playlist. That's about it though.

Nearly every example I look at uses Sytrus. Is it worth the money ($195)?

I'm in the same boat as you dude. I bought FL Studio Producer and Quadrasid. I figured out how to load quadrasid from within FL Studio but that was it. I saw the buttons and options that popped up for quadrasid and it scared the daylights out of me.

I know how to create a sequence but don't know how to transfer that to the main music thingamy jiggy thing.

I'm pretty sure that you create sequences and then move them to an area where all sequences are kept where you could organise them in to the music your making.

The forums look weird, also. I did get a bonus with my FL STudio purchase in that I got to download a lot of samples and sequences ranging from drum loops to voice overs etc. I downloaded about 2 gig of the stuff.

Erm, yeah, anyone that can point us to a place where there are tutorials on using FL Studio, then please share. :)

I'd love to be able to use quadrasid to make my own C64 music. :)

Yup. There's a whole new vocabulary in the music making realm. There are too many big words that I don't know to list.

Getting into FL was hard for me, too. I made the same basic tutorials as all of you, after that I started to make songs. But don't ask me how many hours I needed for simple things the first time. The online help is very good, use it! Once you get the vocabulary and know the way they describe things, you can learn a lot from the online help.

Sytrus is awesome, but I haven't bought it cos I have a ton of other instruments already. If I was starting out and didn't have any decent synths I would get it.

Yeah I bought Sytrus and it's HOT.

Sytrus is awesome.. i can also thoroughly advise on Toxic III, another awesome additive synth, seemingly simpler than Sytrus but you get some bloody awesome sounds out of it.

The best way to tackle fruityloops is to dive in. Don't be scared. Click and see what it does.

Some good points: Right click on almost any control, and click "create automation clip" to create an envelope- now click in the playlist window at the bottom in the automation plane, you can now control the nob using this envelope.

you can also add some preset effects on loaded samples, go into options and check "Show legacy effects" is enabled. Now on the channel properties box there are more controls, and you can add immediate distortion to a sample.

can't really give tutorials for the rest, just dive in and try stuff out!

Tutorials? The FLStudio site has a lot of tutorials. But you have to be registered to watch them. There is also the Black bible which seems to have a lot of informations.

Sytrus is awesome but can take a lot of CPU. Toxic and Poizone are great to.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about any Video tutorials on the site. Havne't checked it in ages.

Anyway I logged in and am now viewing the Step Sequencer/ Piano Roll and Playlist editor tutorials.

This should get me going great.

Poizone is as stable as a psychotic unstable atom... Its good, but the sound engine it uses crashes every so often which sounds terrible!

I don't really use the site, I download some stuff through SampleFusion mainly. the rest I have tought myself as a user of FL since about 2000, when it was just a drum machine! :)

Also download a free VSTi called Synth1 from some Japanese website.

It's not really obvious how to use it, but if you play with the buttons you can make some mad soounding instruments. It comes with a load of presets too.
