Anyone selling WindowsXP SP2 version?

Is there anyone around that would like to sell their original Windows XP with SP2 (Pro or Home) maybe because you have now got Vista and no longer need it.

I need a legit copy but it still seems pretty expensive to buy in the shops unless anyone knows of another place on the internet with a good deal.

I don't know how much it's worth but I'm willing to sell it to you. I only used it once with the activation.

If you want to try the CD-Key to see if it activates and if it does pay me then I could do that.

Check out ebuyer (though you may have to buy a hard drive with it as OEM is only meant "TO BE SOLD WITH A NEW PC" (or a expensive piece of hardware depending where you shop))

It came already activated with my new PC. I formatted and installed Vista.

So, in my eyes it's legit. To make it fully legit I will send by post a screw from the PC Fan to quicksilva to comply with the OEM policy.

[edit] Turns out by from reading the OEM policy license that OEM Versions of XP once installed and activated are not transferable. Oh well. :)

Still you can get a cheap OEM from ebuyer.

M$ can **bleep** off with the prices they charge for retail OS's (and then have the cheek not to put a proper manual in the box (and charge you £35 if you try and submit any bugs you have found in their software to their 'Support Service'). Hold on the M$ police are knocking on my door for "telling the truth".

Eh! I downloaded the ISOs and used the sticked on the back of my system. got an old OEM key sitting somewhere? Use that.....

I think Amons offer of his old key Number whilst possibly Illeagal in the eyes of one of the richest men in the world, is ethicly sound.

Unfortunately, that still makes it not legal in all likelyhood -- aside from the catch that an OEM version of the OS has to come bundled with hardware, there's also the snag that it's not transferrable to another system at a later date, not unless you bought the entire hardware package it was originally bundled with.

Newegg shows the following for any of the OEM versions:
"Disclaimer: Qualifying proof of purchase must be recent receipts showing the purchase of a mother board, hard drive, RAM and a CPU. The components can be on multiple receipts; not necessarily all on one receipt nor on the same receipt as the qualifying Windows XP/Office 2003 that you purchased."

There used to be a ton of places that would sell OEM windows with a bunched $0.05 CD-rom audio cable or the likes, but it looks like they're cracking down on that now.

That actually depends on the laws of your country.

In Germany, it IS legit and has been decided so by the highest German court. In fact, Microsoft's practice of forcing endusers to either sell the hardware along with the software or not sell the software at all was declared ILLEGAL - in Germany. It went into our legal history as the "OEM decision" or whatever it translates to.

In accordance with that, Microsoft is therefor also forced to re-activate already used Vista licences on new computers. You will have to do so by phone, but they have to give you a new activation key once you explained to them that this is a licence transfer (been there, done that). But again: This probably is valid for Germany only.

However, when you sell such an OEM/SystemBuilder software in Germany, you have to sell it with a) the original media, b) the licence sticker(!) and it c) must be accompanied by the very same EULA(!), otherwise it is not a legal transfer of the licence.

As far as I am informed, in the US and several other countries the dongling of the software to the hardware still is legal, so you cannot sell the software without the bundled hardware. (You guys really have to re-think your consumer laws, if you ask me.)

Do you have computer shop that do DIY for customers?
They should also have copies of Windows XP.
