Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Crysis demo...

Hi all,
For those who are interested in the next-gen game Crysis, a playable demo is planned to be released on Sept 25th.
The countdown has begun.... See here!

Wow, a cool video of the nanosuit. I think i don't like it gameplay wise but i like the video of it.

Here is another cool video of an upcoming game:

I'm not too sure of the authenticity of that site - considering its registration.

I haven't seen either Crytek or EA talking about this. There are rumours that the Beta is about to land on Fileplanet for subscribers.

um, The Crysis demo announcement has been all over the news for the past week. Gamespot, Eurogamer etc all released the info on the 28th

Yeh, that lot have certainly been announcing it - but then those are the places that were also squeaking on about the various beta rumours. I'm just saying that I don't see this info on EA's site, Crytek's site or on the official Crysis site.

This is the last official news release:

EA and Crytek announce November 16th release date for Crysis™

I find it strange that the demo is due for September, but nobody is officially stating it.

Redwood City, Calif. – August 2, 2007 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Crytek, award-winning developers of Far Cry, today announced that CrysisTM, will be hitting retail stores in North America and Europe on November 16, 2007 exclusively for the PC. A technical achievement featuring stunning DirectX 10 and DirectX 9 visuals, cunning gameplay, and an epic story, Crysisis recognized as one of the most anticipated PC games and first person shooters of 2007, recently winning Best PC game from the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2007.

“Crytek is constantly striving to push the boundaries of both game design and technology, while maintaining quality at the highest bar,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “We’re thankful to our fans for their support and patience, and we’re excited to bring them Crysis this year. It’s going to be worth the wait.”

Offering true, open-ended gameplay, Crysis gives gamers an unparalleled amount of freedom that fosters completely unique gaming experiences. Players are outfitted with a revolutionary Nanosuit and an arsenal of fully customizable weapons, giving them a wide array of options not only in approaching the entire game, but every single objective or individual encounter. And they will need every advantage they can get going head to head against a menacing and highly intelligent alien threat amid dynamic, hostile battlefields that range from lush, tropical jungles, flash-frozen landscapes and a horrifying zero gravity environment.

Crysis also breaks new ground in multiplayer with the introduction of PowerStruggle – a unique team-based strategic mode for up to 32 players, where opposing sides battle for control of advanced weaponry and vehicles to overcome their enemies. For those who prefer the pulse-pounding action of deathmatch, Crysis will also feature an Instant Action mode, with the highly adaptive Nanosuit serving as the ultimate tool to outwit your opponents.

Crysis has not yet been rated by the ESRB or PEGI. Visit www.esrb.org or www.pegionline.eu for updated rating information. For more information about the game, log onto http://info.ea.com or the game’s official website at www.nanosuit.com.

That quote doesn't mention a demo at all - let alone a date for it.

Wait a minute.

EA are operating info under domains of electronicarts.com and ea.com - that's why I am not seeing the info - I've been tracking the game via the electronicarts.com site right from the beginning. I couldn't get into the ea.com one via FF but just brought it up in IE.

November 16th? I thought it had been delayed until Q1 2008?

That was Alan Wake...

The shooting games should roll out like this:

2007
HalfLife2 Orange Box (hey it's Valve, so you never know :O)
Hellgate London
Crysis

2008
Alan Wake

Less than 3 days to go.

Expect me to remind you again - after I have downloaded it.

this will be fun... i hope it runs on my machine. if you look into my signature, it sure will :)

I hope the demo is much better (especially the visuals) than the beta. The beta shows nothing like the visuals that they have been spamming the net with for the past few years.

hm... 25th september? seems more like 26th october!

Oh no.

What the "Johnson"-bagpipe-nora is going on?

Crysis News

Crysis demo release date delayed to October 26th

Today some Crysis fan site has announced that the release date for the Crysis demo will be delayed to October 26th
The countdown timer will be fixed right after an official statement by EA Games or Crytek

Here the unconfirmed transcript of the news:

"Hi everyone, we have some news to announce.

First, I am sorry for the bad news - the Crysis single player demo will now be available everywhere on October 26th, 2007.

We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call.

Now the good news - the big surprise. The SP demo will be released with our CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, giving the community the opportunity to get familiar with the vast amount of tools they will have at their disposal four weeks before we ship, something we have always wanted to do.

This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master. We appreciate your patience and are looking forward to getting Crysis into your hands on November 16th. "

I bet the initial demo announcement was all for hype.

I am starting to take offence to all this over-hyping.

Release date pushback. What a shocker!

I think i don't like it gameplay wise but i like the video of it.
It's ironic, isn't it?

Playing the game: going to suck.
Watching the game: going to be cool.
Watching the movie: Going to suck.

Go figure.

I played the demo of Quake Wars over the weekend. IT was good, but not that much better looking than Battlefield 2, it's got bumpmapping, but that's about it.
I do like the evolving mission structure though.

On the new gamestar DVD there is a Crysis trailer from the GamesConvention and despite the bad quality (filmed from the screen) it looks quite awesome. I already enjoyed the water in Far Cry but this one is looking much better. Somehow not so realistic but very nice. It makes fun watching it.

The later demo will include the fancy editor which should be fun. The video's of the editor were very impressive :)

I normaly find FPS editors tedious, but theirs looks like it might be fun, what with the dynamic roads and conforming terrain tools.

It's a disgrace.

I should have been downloading this in one and a half hours time from now. Some people paid money to reserve download slots from FilePlanet.
