Engine List

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Engine List

Found this pdf listing opensource or cheap game engines, and the features/ease of use with them.

I am not sure how old it is (says 2004-2005 period), but it looks quite fun:

Intrestingly it says under the Dark Basic entry "Cons:
- Old technology, not recommended to anyone. Use Blitz3D instead." :D

Lol...yah i thought that part was funny as hell. What ever happen to the days of engine wars anyways? I recall a few years ago back when game engines were all over place and every game engine forums had its battles of who was the best....got hectic at times too but very entertaining to read.

I don't know....I think its maturity? or that its now become more 'exacptable' to use other engines becuase there is no direct competition with blitz (using older technology). It seems that with AAA standards so high, most indie people have become more bonded, sharing together a common sence of desperation.
