Free sprites

I am looking for a source of free sprite files.
Doesn't really matter what the images are as it is for testing purposes and learning. I goggled it but just got heaps of ads and nothing useful.

The Lite (free beer) version of my spriteforge (see sig) program can produce spritesets from animated & static 3d models up to a certain size (without a watermark).

You might find it useful as you can convert all your 3d media into well animated sprites at various angles all in one go :)
