Who's the Direct X 10 champ?

I've linked to xbit lab's conclusion, but you can read the full article and deduct by yourself, from what xbit labs has tested, as there are very few Direct X 10 games that are actually on the market today.

Let's wait until Crysis, one of the first blockbusters that supposedly will take full advantage of DX10, is released and then we might see if DX10 is just a lot of MS-marketing-smoke or if it will really make a difference.

On the other hand, I don't really care for the following reasons:
- My iMac Core Duo and its ATI X1600 are not even two years old, but won't support DX10. And somehow I've gotten too old to buy new hardware just to use a Microsoft product...
- DX10 is a one-platform-only technology.
- It requires Vista, which is still buggy like hell, slow (compared to XP) and still incompatible to a lot of software. Geez, even STALKER won't run properly on it, and that's a new title.

I'm thinking ShadowRun. Which I would have bought, if it hadn't required Vista.

I'm thinking that by the time Crysis Forever is released, people will have moved on to DX11. Or DX12.

LOL
Take it from someone who likes Stalker, it doesnt run properly on anything

I've had no more problems with playing STALKER on Vista than playing on XP

face the fact: if you want usefully running DX10 feature support, get an X360 or a PS3

On PC it won't happen in the next 12 months most likely. and it will cost more than any of those 2 consoles.

STALKER ran more or less OK on my machine with XP. Not great, but OK. On Vista, it reminded me of a Powerpoint presentation. :-o

Crysis: I thought they were still on schedule for release this year? But it doesn't really matter, because I won't buy an Octo-Core Mac Pro this year. ;-)

Ain't the 360 DX9 and the PS3 OpenGL though?

And regarding STALKER, yeah, that game is a bit of a mess regarding a fair amount of systems, and its crapload of bugs and lack-of-optimization.
(heck, had to stop playing the game since I hit a game-stopping bug on my setup, been waiting on the 1.04 patch for 2 months now)
