I'm sort of wondering... Right now, I am proposing a PC build here in the not too distant future (more like starting a couple of weeks from now). However, I'm wondering if the E6750 would be the best processor to use for the moment, since the Quad-Core processors are moving in (who knows when C2Q will be officially supported by gaming standards)? However, here's the setup I'm looking at:

I'm wondering if that case (being a full-sized tower) would work well with a setup like this:

I know that nVidia's better, but for an ATI card, this one seems high-end enough for now, up until I am more than convinced that DX 10.1 will make me switch back to Vista (even tho I have Vista on my notebook, I don't have a DX 10 card for that, since this laptop's over a year old, almost two). The total before shipping seems like it runs around $1,080 USD, which isn't TOO shabby for an Intel build of this nature.

Anyone even know what types of hardware that Blitz3D or BlitzMax will support, or be capped to for best performance?

Oops, why don't I pay attention? I meant to go for a PCI-E card, and I wound up choosing an AGP card, someone splash some real cold ale down my back, that'll wake me up!

EDIT: I did find a PCI-E version of that card for $153 USD, so not too bad. Also, I like that the E6750 has a bigger FSB than the E6600, as well as a slightly larger clockspeed, so this may be a good call here.

Well, now that I'm thinking about it, I've been thinking about having an nVidia setup, how does this sound to you?

I'm sort of wondering if that mobo would even be good for an nVidia card. Wasn't an nForce SLI supposed to be a better mobo for a setup like this?

The 680 chipset has enhancements (automatic overclocking of the bus) in conjunction with a select few nVidia display cards. I don't think the 8600GTS is amongst them but the 8800 (GTX, maybe the GTS too?) is.

If I wasn't so knackered, I'd re-find the link on the nVidia website which clarifies this.

Ahh, okay, sweet. So, I'll be looking into the nForce 6 series chipsets. I never knew the advantages of nForce over a P35 mobo, but thanks a lot. I may look into the 320MB 8800GTS, I don't see any advantage of the 640 over the 320 version of that card, because you can actually OC the 320 version, IIRC to meet or exceed the 640 version, not sure by how much, tho.
