HDMI motherboards and separate graphics card.

I'm sort of wondering about this a little... I'm looking at a Gigabyte Mobo that has HDMI on it, here: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128056

However, with that HDMI port on there, I'm wondering if that would communicate with an nVidia 8800 GTS or GTX card, and display that card when using the CPU. I'm glad that HDMI is a good connection for a PC now, but whether or not that would work hand in hand with a dedicated graphics or sound card setup, that has me puzzled. This is being hooked up to an HDTV, btw, so that's why I went with that type of connection.

HDMI can be hit and miss. Lots of people have problems with HDMI, but it can work.

If you're meaning 'can I use my motherboard HDMI plug to display my 8800 card's output', then the answer is 'no'.

Your 8800 has HDCP capable output, enabling you to use a DVI to HDMI adaptor.

Ehh, okay, I guess I can do that, but as for the sound, well, it DOES have that optical output, so I can hook that into my home theater system, and still get the same digital sound. Thanks.
