Medisons $150 lappy

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Medisons $150 lappy

Cheap, runs on Linux (like it or not) but apparently they got some bad critics for secret keeping and such (they wont tell the name of the company producing it cause it can hurt its relations with other companies).

I'd totally buy one since it's cheap, but i'ma wait a few months at least to see if they really are trustworthy. I wouldn't feel like using it if there really was something fishy with their product.

Looks too good to be true, so probably is.

Darkheart

150 US? The shipping cost will be proportionally higher than the computer itself!
IF it's real I will buy 3 or 4...

How do you reckon that? It isn't the best speced laptop in the world - if they can mass produce it I don't see why it couldn't be true.

An 80 quid laptop? Sounds too good to be true, to me.

Well... it would be a £180 laptop if it had windows

That's still a mental price.

lol:

Q: When can you deliver my laptop?
A: We try to deliver as fast as possible, but the normal time is between 4 and 6 weeks.

and a 40 gb harddrive? Dells have more!

Well they had to cut corners to bring the price down, I mean, they're using Celerons for crying out loud.

The thing is pretty much barebones as far as power go, but I guess that would appeal to some programmers for if this is real (real as in it's a decent quality laptop, not one that'll die within a year due to extremely cheap parts), it means a cheap low-end testing machine.

Dells have more!
Here's a little newsflash for you. Dells also cost more. Think there's some sort of connection there?

It seems a (large) bit suspicious from what I've read about it, but according to their own statements they will start shipping August 15th, so we'll find out soon enough.

Anyone parting with their money to this outfit deserves to lose it.

I found a refurbished laptop with a 120 gb and duo core processor for 299$ on tigerdirect

but i'm just saying that that laptop wouldn't work for much

Then again, some people don't require much.

After all, millions of people were very happy with their 486's with 4MB of RAM back in the day, and I'm sure that this one would be substantially 'better' than those machines were at the time.

I'd like to point out:
[...] email ids for company employees are at hotmail, phone is not working, no fax, company' contact address appears to be for a residential house in Kent [...]

4MB of RAM back in the day

In the day, I was happy with 64k of RAM! :D

Dabz

my work mate's ordered two of these laptops. Let's just see what happens.

Incidentally, the UK registered address for them is a normal house somewhere in kent

Maybe this is one of them...

oh dear
Look at the address near the bottom

wow, that's one HOT laptop!

nah,
Im holding out for the 10" screen version of these:

http://www.eeepc.net/

Its perfect for basic portable computing, about 2x(volume) bigger than a video cass. and weighs next to nothing,
comes with linux, camera, wireless and has a reported 3hr battery life that is compatible with mains, car
or a solar charger :Z

The basic model 701s got a 4-16 gb solid state drive 7" screen @800x600 512ddr 1ghz.

The upgraded model 1001 sports a 10" screen @1024x768 and 8-32gb solid state drive.

The range is aparently gonna start at $199

In the words of will smith, "I gotta get me one o these!"

actually, that'd be areally good blitzmax dev system for simple games.
