Old Computers

Hey guys, I am trying to build up a render farm. Just wondering if anyone in the UK has any spare PC's or components lying around gathering dust?

I can't afford to pay much, so free is obviously best. Post or send me an email :) chipmandoo@...

While a second hand oldy might be free('ish), if you need a lot of 'em together for a farm they *will* cost you in terms of power/energy. Perhaps in the long run *one* faster PC is cheaper!

actually no. I have 2 quad core intels atm, so have pretty powerful PCs. after some research I have found alot of smaller processors are much faster. For example 3 1Ghz machines are faster for rendering than 1 3Ghz machine.
