Cheap way to pay my out-of-country partner...

I've got an artist I've been working with for quite some time, who is very talented and is the only reason I'm still in buisness (or will be in buisness once our first title is finished). Anyway, we're about to enter crunch time, and I'm going to need to send several payments to him over the course of the next few months.

He's located in Uruguay, and the only problem is that Paypal isn't really an option (according to him it's barely supported over there) so I've had to use Western Union in the past.

It works fine, but basically I'm getting taken to the cleaners. Can anyone suggest a better, more stable way to send money to him that won't cost me 20% or more each time I use it?

telegraphic transfer over bank..it will take approx 5 day to reach destination, but you will pay additional 10US$ for each transfer(and its always 10UD$, doesnt matter how much you sending)...so far its working fine with me here in asia..

My bank charges me like $30-$50 to do a bank transfer.

Have you tried IPO? (International Post Order) You send any ammount of money, and they receive it at the nearest post office... there are some charges, but last time I used (to pay someone in Japan) it was pretty cheap...

Of course there are limits on how much money you can send, and only to some countries, but it does work pretty well.

As an artist myself who gets paid for custom work regularly, i always use Werstern Union to recieve my payments, but i also pay the charges for the transaction, as i know that i am inconviencing the person who is sending the money. Its a small price to pay really.

So my thoughts are, get your artist to pay for the charges, by simply having them deducted from his fee

I'll ask my artist if that's reasonable...of course there's also the credit card charge fee I always have to deal with, but that's not nearly as bad as the transaction fees...

Is paypal out of the question?

I'm pretty paypal won't work for him...I'm going to check on IPO but if that doesn't work I'll have to ask my artist about paying on some of the transfer, or just suck it up myself.
