It seems that Bitz Web site is NOT secure!

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/It seems that Bitz Web site is NOT secure!

Hi all,

Yesterday (Sunday), I tried to search for info. on this website. As a result, I could only see thread topics without contents.

There are some threads of "general discussion" says something like "to leave or you will be hacked" (Now they are removed!)

Current Blitz WebSite is NOT secure and really need to increase security and BRL has the responsibility to protect existing Blitz users!!! Just changing password periodically is useless.

If you don't enchance the security (eg. firewall or anti-spy or anti-virus softwares), this website will continue be hacked ALL THE TIME!!!

I don't think it matters. Everything here is public. What are they going to take that is yours when they log in? Nothing.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Get a firewall or anti-virus software to secure a website? Oh my god.

Beside which, to the best of my knowledge, no-one at BRL ever made a claim that the website was secure.

What are they going to take that is yours when they log in? Nothing.
Except BlitzMAX maybe.

Those threads were just [worry prone individuals] jumping to a quick and baseless conclusion.

Not really much official word, but don't worry about it until someone explains what went wrong. Weird, ugly glitches happen all the time with PHP!

That, and this site is particularly prone to weird and ugly glitches at random. (And they are, 99% of the time, just that: Glitches).

Just blame the ISP for poor website space, nothing related to BRL...

That means BRL could do nothing on this?
If you think hacking is no problem, just ignore this thread.

No disrespect to the person who posted that 'panic thread', but he's 9 years old.

You lot need to lay off the weed. Paranoia is setting in.

This site's structure has never changed since I first registered BlitzBasic well over 6 years ago. Minus a few layout changes.

Its been moved from server to server too.

After all those years, its bound to get a little icky!

But I have noticed its getting worse, BRL should look into freshing www.blitzbasic.com, new layout, added security, the works... This will probably cause a lot less hassle in the long run.

My 2 pence

Dabz

I would go out on a limb and say there is no such thing as a secure website anyway (or at least if they exist then they are very rare). Most have all been 'hacked' at some point, google, yahoo, msn etc.

With security, i guess you get what you pay for and buy what you need, so i wouldnt loose sleep over it, worst they could do with your info on blitz is send you some unwanted email.

The site problems were simply server related and seem to have been resolved without any significant loss of data.
