Unless you have a legit dos setup, you won't be playing. the game just cant work under any version of windows.

That's what I thought until I found DOS Box!

You actually had system shock under dosbox? I couldn't seem to get it working.

Bioshock is just around the corner...

It was horrible. I digged deep into SystemShock, played it for weeks. There's a point (could be deck 4 down the ship if I remember right) where you walk into a gangway with closed doors. Nothing happens, but at the end there was a secret trigger that opens all doors (silently, unlike most other doors in that game). You turn around and the complete gangway is filled with a dozen of giant spiders attacking you.

That scared me to hell and I made a 2 meters jump away from the screen, close to a heart attack. I never played this game again, not a second! But until this point it was a great game ;))

So read my warning carefully:
Never play Systemshock in a dark room if you are arachnophobic.

I have system shock running under xp, have a look at www.ttlg.com for info on how to do it.

Naughty

why don't you ask Swifty if he knows - he worked on the second game I think...

What about VMware?
www.easyvmx.com
and (also needed)
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/
It should boot up an old dos 6.2 image with no probs and is easy to set up (try 'other' on os list) :)
It seems to be free with this site plus the vmware player :/

Ps have you tried the abandonware sites?

I played system shock 2 a while back, the scared the pants off me!

Oh and yes, it should work fine under DOS 6 using vmware.

The game works just fine in WinXP with VDMSound installed... I think I've also tried DosBox, but didn't test it a lot. I'm pretty sure that VMWare or VirualPC will work as well...

Looking forward to Bioshock.

However have read that it'll require an internet connection to 'activate the game'.

Well, maybe they're just burned childs from the past...

The whole game works fine on my XP box without vmware or anything, just starting CDShock.bat and off it goes.
