WiiConnect24 breaking the Wii?

I've heard about this a while back, but ignored it considered it a possibly fluke. Recently I've been seeing more news about this floating around the web now perhaps causing a slight concerned. I've had my WiiConnect24 turned on since the day I got my Wii and havent had any issues yet. But I do notice that the Wii gets awfully warm when its turned on (and the Wii is turned off). I turned off the WiiConnect24 earlier this morning and surprisingly a few hours later, the Wii is no longer giving off heat. Anyone else notices this?

Mine's been warm with it left on since the day I've gotten it.

Been on 24/7 since November 19th, not a single problem with it, even if it does get warm on the left side (or the top if you sit it flat), always figured that Nintendo was aware of this and did tests regarding system durability vs. the heat.

Regardless, if it does cause problems, I got my extended warranty to cover it.

It should shut down if it ever reaches a critical temperature, as most computer hardware does.
...consider it a nice hand-warmer?

I imagine a firmware update will fix it some day; just hope Nintendo is paying attention. (Although, considering I hear more about PSP firmwares than Wii firmwares, they are being quite defensive about their firmware updates, just like the rest of their Internet strategy...).

It's a games console, nothing more. Switch it off when you're not using it. You're costing yourself extra money and doing the planet no favours.

Leaving it switched on for 9 months is plain ignorance and selfishness. We don't have a warranty for the place we live.

Goodbye.

Just Wii on it, that should cool it down.
