Just wondering if anyone else experienced this over the weekend.
On saturday, my system booted as normal, AVG updated itself, performed a clean scan etc.
I spent the day coding. My only net browsing was through visiting this site.
Later in the day I started getting adverts popping up. (Yes, adware!) They came from nowhere and I could not see anything suspicious in Task manager.
Yesterday morning, the problem was still going, AVG updated, scanned, and found the problem.
Thing is, I was up-to-date, behind a router and firewall.
So, it seems these bleeders have found a new way in!
Did anyone else get anything similar this weekend?

On monday AVG detected some false positive (Obfuscate-Virus) in some executables I last used 2 years ago. Two other engines on virustotal.com also recognized them. After all, just a heuristic match, nothing to worry about.
@Cygnus, did you ran HijackThis? If not, do so and try a quick logfile-analysis (by posting the resulting log to
http://www.hijackthis.de/en ).
I highly recommend the above site! They really helped me to remove a trojan I got two months ago. Some people around their forums are well-skilled security experts.
Nono, it's alright. I'm handy at removing these things myself. only took two days because I was away for the weekend. :P
The systems clean now. It was just wierd that it got in when all I was doing was browsing this site and coding.
HijackThis is a pretty cool tool though
I run F-Secure and I don't get nasty stuff.
I also use Opera as my web browser instead of FF or IE.
I also have an intuitive sense of where not to browse and what not to download ;)

at sandboxie.
http://www.sandboxie.comIt runs the browser (IE, Firefox, others I dont know)
in a virtual sandbox and is easy to use (and free).
If you habe problems after surfing, just clean the sandbox
and spyware, cookies etc. is gone..

This thing managed to get in- as I said the only site i had been on that day was this one.
Opera: takes an AGE to open on my machine- no thanks. I do use FF but I dont think its any more secure than IE really.
