Forum-based RPGs

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Forum-based RPGs

Developing a Forum-based RPG for fun. Looking for input from those who have played them or interested in them.

uh, you mean: like 20 ppl join the club, and each person writes a number of functions, types and/or methods?

or do you mean: 1 person codes the whole shebang, and like 20 ppl make up the story/characters/art?

I thought forums where RPGs.

Huh? Can you expound on this a bit? You mean where people post what their character is doing and the DM posts the response? Kinda like RPG via email?

Frank, not to hijack your thread...but how did the gourmet pickle thing turn out?

A rocket propelled grenade?
That would take a lot of spamming...

Frank?

Chroma: Frank, not to hijack your thread...but how did the gourmet pickle thing turn out?
Unfortunately my gourmet pickle customer base 'fizzled-out' to the expense in producing producing on a small scale. Back to the Entrepreneurial Drawing Board:(

Perhaps Frankie means something along the lines of Inselkampf?

No coding, I'm using phpBB v3 to manage the Forum. However, the game content is 100% User-driven.

Something very similar. Most Forum-based RPGs I've participated in operate more like multi-user stories in which participants add to it. Telling the story from a third-person view.

This is not my goal. I'm striving for interactive gameplay similar to Paper & Pen Games. I want to players to tell their story in first-person and use dice rolls to determine outcomes. At the moment I'm not quite sure how to do this.

FlameDuck:I thought forums where RPGs.
I agree. Everyone here speaks from 'first-person' perspective and I want to try to capture this POV in the game.

The game is similar to: Tazlure

I'm currently working on the Forums appearance, writing gameplay rules, and creating content templates. I will take any assistance anyone has to offer in this department. I'm also looking to sign up LoreCrafters (DM) to run Quest.

Well I'm quite a DnD nut and quite creative at times so if you need any help in that area...

Chroma

The design of the game is open at this juncture. My goal is to create a simple set of playing rules that can evolve with the game. If you take a look at the Forums you can kind of get an idea of what I'm trying to do.

So it's basically free-style as long as you follow a set of rules then?

Chroma: So it's basically free-style as long as you follow a set of rules then?
Yes. LoreCrafters are the DMs and direct the story. Adventurers can do anything within the 'means' of their characters.

Chroma you are my first official registrant:)

Cool. Now for a gnome tossing contest! ;)

Dice Mod bbcode code added to the forum. Working RPG Rules. Help Wanted.

I'd love to get into something like this but as it is I'm strapped for time and have a big heaping helping on my plate. Maybe in a year or so when my current project is (hopefully) coming to completion.

Good luck with it though. It sounds fun.

Looking for Free RPG Rule eBook. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
