UI matters? About TGB 1.5

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/UI matters? About TGB 1.5

Well check this out if you'd not used TGB yet.

TGB 1.5 is a nice improve... the native UI let me feels better than previous version, concerning TGB still has no built-in script editor(big drawback), it's a lot better than MMF/TGF now.

Not complaining about Blitz(B3D or BMX), but the slow code loading in default ide is irritating, you can see ppl still making 3rd party IDEs around, this may scare many potential customers off....

I'm not sure how you figure that third-party IDEs scare people off. A multitude of tools and third-party support is a good thing, not a bad thing.

As for the Torque Game Builder, yeah, it's pretty sweet. I've used the demo and I like the Torque Game Builder a lot, but it is exactly what it says: a game builder. Torque is awesome if you're a kickass pixel slinger who's looking to get a new shooter up and running as fast as possible, but not so hot if you're looking to develop a game server or distributable function library. Also, the Torque IDE and map editor have had plenty of issues of their own, althought 1.5 may address many of those.

I agree to this basically, however the BlitzMax's default IDE should be the first seen one to new users, compare it with PureBasic's IDE, the BMax one is really lacking of some decent functions.

TGB is for quick games as you said, but it also provides script interface and source(optional), it's much more serious tool than we think, and I'm running v1.5 to test it out if there's existing glitches.

BLIde should be the default IDE. The new version (0.9) is a vast improvement.

Wonderful though it is (and I do really like that IDE!), BLIde only runs in Windows and is not written in BlitzMax, so that wouldn't (shouldn't) happen.

I do not see what is wrong with leaving popular third party IDEs as popular third party IDEs. Does something magical happen to them once they become "official" tools?

Yeah, I never realised Ziggy fixed it up so much till a day ago... Top stuff! :)

We also think that BLIDE should be the default IDE, were going to recommend it as the preferred IDE for flow, we make extensive use of BLIDE's intellisense features to help people use flow without having to reference docs and manuals all the time.

It's a very nice IDE for streamlining workflow, I just bought the plus version to show some support, the extra features plus includes are already proving usefull and at a very reasonable price :).

Is it me or TGB doesnt run on Win98? I downloaded the demo here and it just crashed :/

I used to use Blide. Then for some reason I noticed that some code that runs OK in native IDE creates errors in Blide. Didn't bother to update Blide, toy with settings or anything like that. I am lazy. :)

TGB runs on Win98.
But you need Win98 SE and have the Unicode Package installed, otherwise it won't.

TGE 1.5 and TGB (as well as TGEA) are built for Unicode support and unless the programmer decides to remove it, it means that Pre Win2k Users have to install the Unicode package to have it working.
