Tomb Raider Anniversary:

Well... I gotta set, it's fun, and there's so much stuff from the first one it's very cool, brings back fond memories.

I've actually completed the croft manor which was full of nice little puzzles to keep you amused, although I've no idea how to get the last artifact in the gym! Grrr! I've leapt and ran and shimmied and can't for the life of the work out how to get the bugger!

In the game I've got up to the T-Rex which was fun... at first... however, it's one of those bloody bosses where you've just got to shoot that crap out of. OK... I checked the walk through and apparently you can make it charge as spiky things on the level which I'll have a go at doing tonight. However, it's generic end of level boss stuff, why can't designers come up with something more interesting that just something you need to shoot the crap out of for hours?

Still, I'm going to press on and get through the game!

There was a T-Rex in the first Tomb Raider - if it works the same as that, shooting it in the head repeatedly will kill it quicker.

It works completely differently to the first one! The first one you could just get the shotgun out and repeatedly shoot it hopping backwards and you'd kill it... This one ain't so easy!

Actually one of the biggest problems is that you can't hop backwards like you could in the original.

And I still struggle with the movement being camera-based rather than character based, ie, you press left and the character moves to the left based on where the camera is pointing rather than based on which way the character is pointing. Which I find seriously annoying.

I heard that the T-Rex bit was a let down and yes you have to use the spikes.

the Trex is easy with a 360 gamepad, hard with a mouse and keyboard. This game is set up to work like the 360 version out of the box if you plug your gamepad in.

I prefer mouse and keyboard for tomb exploration, but the trex is hard, you can't get the special slow mo special sniper move easily at all with the the keyboard.

Anyone know the Wii is going to see a version of TR: A? I'm deeply considering that version, but wanted to know if it was worth it with the new control features from the Wiimote and/or nunchuk.

Well I gave up on the T-Rex, was pissing me off too much so I downloaded a save game of just after it! Is that cheating? Well, yes, but I would have killed it eventually... or thrown the computer out of the window!

Back in the game now and having a lot of fun, currently stuck it the 'sword room' in St Francis' folly. Pulled all the levers, pushed all the buttons, but can't seem to open the door to get out... I'm sure I'll work it out!

As far as I'm aware there's no Wii version planned, and the xbox360 version is going to be downloadable episode by episode for people who already own legend.

Man, you cheated on Lara! And only after just one day! I hope you are proud of yourself...;-)

I'm stuck on the T-Rex too, and it's really beginning to get on my nerves. I just can't get used to the new Adrenaline Dodge and only managed it once fighting that thing. Consequently, I barely touched it before getting killed myself.

Seems like the game is designed to be played with a gamepad and not much attention has been made for us mouse+keyboard users. I don't want to switch to playing with a gamepad though, as I prefer the mouse+keyboard combo most of the time, as it's easier to steer Lara (by making sure Lara is running forward and having the camera steer her with the mouse, if you follow). So what am I supposed to do, switch to a gamepad every time I come up against a boss?! Seems daft to me.

I miss the little cave you can hide in to take the T-Rex out in safety.

I haven't been tempted to cheat ... yet! I usually have a couple of attempts and then go and play something else if I've failed again.

Well I'd been running around the t-rex for hours, I can do the Adrenaline Dodge, but you've got to be infront of the spiky bits for it to be worth while and I just found myself running around shooting for hours, got bored of it to be honest, wanted to get on with the heart of the game which is running, jumping and puzzle solving.

I wish they did something more interesting with the bosses rather than just shoot the thing for hours.

I would have liked the whole thing to be the interactive cutscene thing and she does something like run up it's back and shoot in directly in the head or something. That would have been cool!

Most bosses in Tomb Raider just don't fit in my opinion. They just annoy me!

Oh, and I recommend http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com for tips on how to use the dodge, I didn't realise I was doing it wrong for ages!

Bleh.

Anyone got to the last boss yet? in the first one that thing was bloody impossible, and you'd fall so far lara would screen 3 times before you hit the bottom.

Whats that thing like in TR:A?

Uh, didn't anyone get my joke? never mind...:-)

Yeah. it was just very..very... poor. :P

Already got that place bookmarked, as it's the first place I go when I get stuck. Just have to be careful what you read, as there's spoilers all over the place from people who just post about later stuff in the game on unrelated threads!

Already knew about the spikey things, but getting the position right isn't easy. Well, for me at least. Always seem to mis-time the dodge and get myself cornered, only to be punished by the T-Rex. I'll keep trying though.

I don't remember the last boss being that difficult in the original game for some reason. I do remember that very, very long drop though. Thought it was well funny. Could have gone to make a cuppa before she hit the floor!

I should mention, I was pretty crap at it ;-)

I don't remember any of the bosses being a bit problem in the first one, as I said, it was more about the puzzle solving and adventuring, the shooting was kept to a bare minimum and the bosses weren't too tough.

Or, grab it by the tail and swing it around before flinging it into the distance, a la Mario Vs Bowser! :P

/me mumbles something about Nintendo game bosses being much more imaginative and entertaining...

Note: with the gamepad, the PC keyboard and mouse controls still work, so you can use whichever suits the moment. I found the Trex impossible without the gamepad but beat the Trex on my second try with it.
