Geforce Series 7 and Directx 10

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Geforce Series 7 and Directx 10

Hi all,

1. What is missing in Geforce Series 7 card that it could not run DirectX 10 applications?
2. Only Series 8 could run DirectX 10?

Thanks in advance.

Unified shaders mostly.

Yep, if its a nVidia card you want, but this wont stop you using Vista for DirectX9 games (which currently are around 15% slower than XP)

There of course won't be anything stopping you from running DX10 games with a DX9 card either - just that anything not covered by your card will have to be done in software.

You can't use any DX10 features in games, and some games might not even start if your card isn't DX10. And having "software fallbacks" if you have DX9 card isn't going to work. No one does anything "software" these days...

Contrary to belief, but a small splattering of DirectX 9 in Vista is emulated, ie, runs on software.

I cannot remember which bits mind.
