Is it just me whose been getting a huge influx of Viagra spam recently? Spam was at a low constant a while back but recently I'm getting tons of male part enhancement emails, plus "cheap" software and the odd spam in chinese charcters or something. Anyone else?
Huge amount of spam recenlty
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Huge amount of spam recenlty Someone must think you cant 'get up' in the morning :P
Have you published your email address as plain text on your website? i learned the hardway that evil spam-bots pick it up. When i removed mine my spam count almost halved after a few months.
I also use thunderbird (which has a very good learning filter) which tends to get most of the crap and puts it in a junk folder. I think theres a mac version too :)

I reduced my spam to practically zero by putting a simple captcha on my website forms. ie : "What is the sum of 2+2?" - works wonders.
I had viagra spam messages yesterday but not today ... I do get the odd cheap software spam mails (they're pirates selling commercial software for like £50) and I wonder how they got my details. I think it could be related to my last credit card which I had to cancel as I had been a victim of fraud ... someone ordered 3 digital cameras on my credit card and specified a different delivery address but they were actually delivered to my address!
I use a program called Mailwascher, with a correct setup it works like a charm!
Dodo: So, did you get the cameras AND the money back? :P
Who needs viagra in this forum anyways?

Haha, they refunded me £300 for the cameras which I had to return (I know I could have kept them but they were crappy 2-3 Mega Pixel ones) but not another transaction of £150 which the crook had placed but was delivered to an alternative address. The bank sorted that out for me.

I encode them now, but there might be some old text versions kicking around. Maybe some spam bot monster finally picked them up... Spam Assassin works wonders if you have access to your mail server. It may even run standalone, I am not sure. I run my own mail server and use it. I get maybe two spam that get through to my inbox per day, out of the probably 30 or so that try.
What TaskMaster said. SpammAssassin is AWESOME. I used to get litterally HUNDRES of spam mails a day. Now nothing gets through.
Maybe it's a hint from someone.
GMail does a terriffic job at protecting me from spam. Not that I get much spam, these days. Cheap software seems to be the falvour of the month with the odd mail containing randomly generated messages, and a gif image with black rotated text on a white background trying to convince me to buy pills. :P
I use Windows Live Mail (through Hotmail), and not one spam email now for almost a year.
Of course, once I get one, I'll probably start getting trillions...

yeah there's already some spam protection on my mail server so this stuff if slipping through.
I was once `offered` penis enlargement, breast reduction AND viagra in 3 consecutive emails?... if I didn't have a identity crisis before that day... I sure did after it ;)
But seriously... I was gettting about 50-60 spams per day until recently... it was getting to the stage where, if I couldn't get online for a few days, I absolutely dreaded checking my inbox the next time I did get online!... My ISP has recently upgraded its filters and *touch wood* they seem to be working really well... I get maybe 2 or 3 spams per day now.
