f4ktor Design - Texture Pack 01
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/f4ktor Design - Texture Pack 01
I'm currently creating a texture pack consisting of more than 25 textures (stone, metal, wood) and more than 25 normal maps. I will release the 512x512 version of that pack for free (there will be some kind of license but the pack will be free for commercial and non-commercial work).
Additionaly I can provide high res (1024x1024 or 2048x2048) versions of those textures and normal maps. I'm particulary interested in a trade with engine/language creators that want to deliver those textures to their users. If there's no interest I will provide the high res version of the pack on a donation base, meaning everyone who wants to support me will be able to donate a small amount of money (5-10 euro) and get the high res textures.
The texture pack is not ready yet but I hope to have it finished by the end of next week. If you're interested in a deal then please write to contact aT f4ktor dOt com
Btw MaxGUI is built into bmax now isn't it. You cannot sell it.
Well, I bought both second hand and haven't registered the BUID yet. So in fact I can sell it. And now stop OT talking.
So in fact I can sell it.
You can sell it if BRL say you can sell it.
Could you please stop those OT talk?!? That's very disturbing.
I personally find your signature offensive and greedy.
Update: The pack will contain exactly 25 textures (stone, wood, metal and alien) and 25 normal maps.
I'm currently working on the "alien" textures which will be inspired by the video game "Prey" from Humanhead Studios.
Any previews?
Wait another day or two. I'm just into creating the textures and have yet to find a way to show them with bumpmapping etc. But since the basic quality textures and normalmaps will be free I guess there is not that much preview needed. But I will show some screenshots of a cube or plane with some textures and normalmaps applied, don't worry ^^
Did you create these with MapZone? I looked it briefly ages ago, but couldn't get on with it.
Some ( at least ) appear to be tileable. Are they all tileable?
1. Yes, MaP Zone was used (but not only MaP Zone I might add ^^)
2. Yes, they are all tileable
I'm also writing a short tutorial ebook to get people started with MaP Zone but it will take a while because English is not my first language and I want to be sure that everything is perfectly understandable.
Your textures aren't very good. They're too shiny and absurdly simple. The first one, presumably rivets, is just plain ugly due to the diffuse and specular maps. I'd can it.
The second one, also rivets, is very bland and once again too shiny. It shows zero wear on the rivets, which should be visible enough to make some distinction of how used the floor or whatever else it is placed on is.
I'll assume the third one is wet mud, which is lacking in depth for mud still. If it were mud, there should be color variation to show the differing kinds of soil and oils in the earth. If it's not mud, well, let's just say I don't want to know what it is.
The last one, the wood, is decent, but you've got some things to learn about wood textures. First off, the spots -- they're lining up across the planks. This will never happen in real life unless you for some reason laid down the floor as a huge slab of wood and then cut it into planks on the spot. Next, why are there even spots on the wood? Lastly, it's still too shiny. If you're going to sell textures, you should at least try to make the subject you're painting decent.
Hopefully that will at least help you somewhat, even if you're not painting these yourself (it's pretty obvious if all you can do is basic patterns here). Also, your normal maps are terrible. I don't know what you're using to generate them, but it's clearly not working out very well. I recommend you model the textures and only afterwards do you paint the diffuse map (assuming you can paint these by hand).
Edit: Also, you should contact Josh/Leadwerks about whether or not your engine and editor licenses are transferable if you haven't already. Same goes for MaxGUI and Blitz Research, seeing as how they'll otherwise have it on record that you are the licensee of MaxGUI.
theyre not that bad.
Yes, yes they are.
I don't like the first 2 to be honest. I can't imagine seeing them anywhere. The first one looks like a wooden version of the raised metal floors you see in every sci fi game.
I like the third one though
