Is it any good?
PSP Camera

Doesn't seem too bad. No use for it personally.

Thanks Hot, but I really wanted Firsthand experiance.
What happened was, I went to Game to buy a camera, and the shop assistant advised that I didnt, because every single customer they had sold one to, had brought it back.
I so I was after a wider sample set

There's the problem, right there. If you want a camera, go to a camera shop. Don't expect anything above mediocre results from anything that's had a camera slapped on it as an afterthought.

But I dont really want a Camera, but for the price of a Game I was willing to BUY the sony camera for my PSP, which would then save my haveing to buy memory etc.So should I go to the Camera shop to Buy a PSP camera? Or an internet Cam? Or should I go to PC Land or the like?
I dont mind Mediocre results, its worse than mediocre results that Im worried about. I dont have a camera, but for £30 I could get a Video/still psp camera.
I dont want to be David Baily, and Im not going to carry something else arround, but thank you very much for letting me know that if I want a top wack camera I should go to a camera shop.
Do you in addition to this valuable information, acctualy have anything to add about the PSP camera?
That might sound nasty, but I was going to buy one, and was told not to by the sales assistant, But he didnt even know what firmware anything was, and was only telling me, cos they wont replace it, if I buy it after they tell me it wont work (That I would have to go via Sony).
Im not going to buy a different type of Camera, cos I already have a Holiday/Family event camera, but as I carry the PSP about, having a camera on it seems like a good idea. (I dont carry a phone)
So I simply want to know if anyone here has had any experiance with one.
PS. GFK is of course right, but above a simple camera shop, if you want a camera go to an independent camera shop, the service you recive from an owner/propriater is nearly always leaguges ahead of camera chain stores. [Or Game ;]
I don't have any experience with a PSP camera either (nor do I own a PSP).
About a month ago I was trying to buy an antivirus for this PC. I didn't want to get McAfee's or Norton's, so I googled for antivirus reviews. I found a few reviews of various products, and settled on BitDefender (I have a few complaints but it didn't cost much). A few of the reviews were very in-depth, and some were written by actual users of the various programs I considered. You can't look at just one review, though, as everyone has different experiences, expectations and knowledge of other products.
Perhaps you could use google to find reviews about the PSP camera. There's no guarantee anyone here has used one.

I never said anything about a "top wack camera".The PSP is a games system, and the camera addon for it is just a marketing gimmick to make more money for Sony.

o.O I was going to buy one, and was told not to by the sales assistant
Well, there's your answer. If the sales assistants in a shop are telling you not to buy something out of their stock because its crap, then it probably is.There's no need to get arsey just because I'm telling you what you don't want to hear. Try google.
Try google
lol. Did, and couldnt find the problem I was being told about. I know you didnt say anything about a Top wack camera, but ha, I was being a little tiny bit arsey. If the sales assistants in a shop are telling you not to buy something out of their stock because its crap
You would think so, but when I bought my PSP they said exactly the same thing, and when I asked them why, They said that (And I quote), "They dont have to replace it, if you return it except for extreame reasons, if they tell you that it doesnt work" ;- This was re the LCD screen.Honestly, if it wasnt the only outlet that didnt need a trian to get to, I wouldnt buy anything there.
This was re the LSD screen.
LSD screen?Sounds fun. I'll take two.
yes "Little Stupid Dim" screen, honest.
Seriously tho, if anyone does own one, comments would be welcome

I was curious about this, until I learned that it saves footage in MJPG format...........what the hell, that format eats your memory cards.
That's probably why.
Quick google search gave me this:
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/19/psp-camera-review-worse-than-most-camera-phones/
Camera: 1.3 megapixel
Movies: max 15secs clips, no matter how much space you have (!)
Sounds pretty bad to me... :P

Well, ten replies into that thread they start to have an argument that the 15 second thing isnt true. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go!Cam
Apparently it can record for longer than 15s. Its a fairly low resolution though and an interesting choice of video format.
The still camera is pretty low resolution too, and it has no optical zoom. The low resolution makes the digital zoom virtually useless... not that digital zoom is ever a unique selling point.
I still say its crap and you shouldn't waste your money on it. You could get an infinitely better camera from Argos for the same or slightly more.
