Thinking of changing hosting - suggestions?

I'm currently using www.z-host.com. However, Their customer services people seem to be McDonalds rejects.

They've just upgraded to a 'newer' version of cPanel, which basically is giving me all sorts of problems. I've had enough.

I need to be able to use MySQL and PHP, 100MB+ of webspace and at least a couple of GB of bandwidth per month. I also want to take my existing domain name over to them.

I'd also like a UK based provider, but that's a preference rather than a requirement.

Check about BlueHost(http://www.bluehost.com) or HostMonster(http://www.hostmonster.com/)?

Basically SAME company but different price.

Technically you can host couples of Mid-sized sites without problem.

I use 1and1.co.uk for my hosting - it's not cheap but you get what you pay for...

Do 1and1 use cPanel, or their own?

I kinda like cPanel (or I did, before z-host 'fixed' it).

I use powweb. I'm happy with it. But I don't use PHP or anything like that, or their control panel. They give you 300 gigs of space and 3000gb of transfer a month though (yes, 3000gb, that's not a typo), and you can split up your space and share your bandwitdh among several sites with different domains if you wish. And did I mention it's incredibly cheap?

jaguarpc.com has been good to me. I've used them and the company they bought out since 2001 or 2002.

How much bandwidth do you burn and how much are you looking to pay? I'm with a great company (been with them exclusively for six or seven years now) but I use thousands of gigs per month. I don't know what they offer if you only need two or three gigs per month.

I think it's everything anyone will ever need at a very reasonable price...
I mean 300 gb of space and 3000 gb transfer is something already, but it offers so much more! ;-)
And their live customer service (didn't try the phone though, but chats are working fine) is pretty good as far as I can tell...

We use alot of the MySql and PHP and its proven itself reliable. ( as sswift mentions its cheap too !)

Well.... a little faith has been restored. They've fixed ALL the problems I found, and everything is working fine again.

Guess I'll stay put for now, but thanks for the advice. Will bear it in mind for future use. ;)

Hey - can you explain why you think this? I currently have a couple of sites hosted with them - I won't say what I think just yet - I'm just interested in hearing what problems you've had.
