IDE template?

By taking a brief look at the MaxIDE source, it seems really big to be used as a base for a custom IDE. It would be cool to have a template in the Code Archives wich just showed a window with a TextArea with BlitzMax syntax highlighting.

I am not asking anyone to make it, just if there is someone here who has studied the source of MaxIDE, please tell me which function is responsible of formatting the textarea, and I'll make the template myself and add it to the Code Archives ;)

I haven't taken the time to look into the IDE source code, but this is useful tutorial on textareas.

Thanks for the tutorial, but it is really simple. It does not cover the complex things in syntax highlighting like multiline comments. I might take a look into MaxIDE myself, but I just asked because if someone has already done it, it would save me time & work.

Did you ever find what you were looking for? I am actually intestested in starting an IDE to add new features and just for the experience.

That syntax highlighting is toughy though.
