DX Studio version 2.0 has been released
Is anybody reasonably familiar with this software ?
I have been favourably impressed by its features but the most important one, for me is stability
That's why I am still here :)

What is it, and what does it do? Do you have a link or something?

..I tried demo 1 month ago..looks interesting to me...similar concept like Unity, as well as JavaScript...regarding demos I saw, nothing what B3D cant handle so far...but as I said..quite interesting..by the way, do you guys know anything about Blink3D? It seems to be based on OGRE, regarding some info I use to read on PureBasic forums, but I am not sure and I was unable to see any detailed features list...

yes it s based on javaScript which in my opinion is one of the best scripting language for game development
It does not have the complexity of a true OOP language but it can handle the items on the screen , images, buttons ect in case of a web page , entities in case of a game , same as objects

Certainly looks interesting.

Someone download it, test it and report back to me.

DXStudio was weak and convoluted last I tried it. It's not a patch on Unity or Blade3D. Blink3D looks weak too. For this type of tool, only Unity and Blade3D look worth a damn to me. Even they both have their weaknesses ( Mac-only dev, and some Windows compatibility issues with Unity, and XNA reliance with Blade3D ) but they are both very capable from what I've seen.

http://www.blade3d.com/ ( because I don't know if it's been linked to before on these forums. )

for weak do you mean unstable ?

No, by weak I mean features are either missing or partly implemented or badly implemented. I don't know if you'd call it a stability issue, but DX Studio failed on many occasions to import the pool table model I used in Kick Shot Pool. It hung for about 2 minutes even trying, and then finally crashed, and that was the best it managed in several different format conversions.

It is what I was concerned about
It seems that it is a pain to import many popular file formats

The world really does need a Blitz3D 2. Blitz3D with all the bells and whistles of all these fancy engines.

Blitz3D with all the bells and whistles of all these fancy engines.

It really doesn't, not once you've used something better than Blitz3D. Only a sadist would want to go back to Blitz3D from BlitzMax. The bells and whistles are great ( hey, I'm using TV3D, it's got bells and whistles galore ) but the language improvements are far more important event than those.

I am also interested in TV3D
I suppose it is stable
Stability is the most important issue for me , then programming language then bells and whistles

Yes, it's very stable. Stability is the most important factor in my considerations too, and I've been using TV for about a year.

Thanks
