Top 10 spammer arrested

A top ten spammer has been arrested, anyone notice a decrease in junk mail? Mine's still about the same.

my hotmail account used to get loads of spam but for the past year or so I get virtually nothing, except the odd replica rolex offer.

Sweet... I hope they throw the book at this guy.

I hope they print out all the spam he's sent and throw that at him.

I noticed decrease in spam... I even started to worry if something wrong is with my email :D

Strange how spam follows a "trend". During the past year spam was about;
* University diploma's
* Rolex / other fake watches
* M$ windows / other M$ software at ridicilous prices.
* Stock recommendations
* Nigeran scammers
* Cialis / Viagra
* currently, the stocks recommendations are being phased out, Rolex-spam and Viagra is raising on popularity.

damn spammers! get a bad disease you filth of earth!

I'm currently getting loads of emails on Cialis / Viagra, and penis enlargement / enlargement drugs... I think if I got all the drugs they're offering me and if said drugs worked as claimed I could walk to work and still be able to urinate in my own toilet.

I don't generally support the death penalty, but I'm willing to make an exception here. Kevin Mitnick spent five years in a federal prison without being formally charged with a crime, and all he did was look at the Solaris Source Code. There is no form of punishment this guy could get, that I would think of as being cruel and/or unusual.

maybe they should just feed him a years worth of all the pills he advertised in one go and see if all the blood rushes to his massive dong and makes him faint.

Yes and no -- *some* people are buying, but it's a really low percentage. Then again, considering the cost of email means that annoying the crap out of a million people and having two people buy it still means that the spammer makes a profit.

something else to remember: A lot of the times the spammer doesn't spam for himself, but on behalf of other (misguided) people. so even if not a single person buys the spammed product, the spammer comes out ahead because they just charged someone $xx for sending umpteen bazillion messages. the spammer gets paied for sending, not necesarily for the sales.

good point. Yeah I realise it's a crazy low % but somebody is making some money somewhere. If 1,000,000 people see your email even a 0.01% CR will make some money!

It's mostly viagra spam that finds it's way into my gmail spam folder. The funny thing is that the mail only contains randomly generated sentences, and a ugly gif image with viagra prices on. Usually tilted.


Edit: come to think of it. I get much less spam these days. Only 3 or 4 each day.

I saved all the adverts and free papers I got for about a year and they stack up to the ribs. I accept email adverts. I also accept paper adverts. I do have a sticker if I do not need the paper adverts anymore.
