Linux - Conexant audio Q

Hey all..

Just thought I'd try here before I go off and find myself having to register for a crapload of forums...

yesterday I finally got Ubuntu 7.04 to install on my system- I was amazed! it found *all* of my hardware devices...

However, I am getting no sound. I have a connexant HD audio device which even shows up BUT plain and simple- no sound comes out the speakers... This is in Ubuntu itself- not just blitzmax...

ANyone else had this? Any ideas how to solve it?

Cheers - there's more to linux than just dropping a file in and running, so it was kinda silly to just ask straight off :D
