Does anybody know if these can be used in Blitz, they seem excellent value for the amount of content tou get in each pack.
Dark Matter Model Packs
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Dark Matter Model Packs Yes they can - I've used Dark Matter 1. As far as I know the other 2 packs are still .x file meshes and should be okay.
Thanx Puki
The ones with skeletal animation can't. The others can. Also bear in mind that you're not allowed to convert the formats. You have to use them in the format they are in, which I believe is .x as Puki says.
Puki. Are you sure you didnt have t0 convert them?
In which case, no they are not usable in Blitz

However I think they generaly give you permission to use tham in any language if you ask.

You cannot distribte them in any product that was not written in Dark Basic. (But they might have changed that to include DGSDK)All 3D models included in the Dark Basic Model Pack library are non exclusive (Geo-metricks retains ownership and Copyright)

Models can be used with other languages like C++
I have the Dark Matter 1 retail boxed version - the CD contains both .x and .3DS files.
More than likely I used the .3DS ones.

Any language, so long as you don't convert them. I asked.
The .x files load and animate in Blitz3D - I just tested.
For the darkmatter 1 CD they allow to use it. For CD 2 you have to use the models with DBPro, since it's DirectX 8.1, not supported by Blitz3D. Could be converted to B3D, but they explicitely disallowed this.
The best way would be to write a loader for them.

Just the models from DM1. DM2 .x files are bone-animated X meshes, which are not supported by Blitz3D. The best way would be to write a loader for them.
But you cannot create bone-animations on the fly with Blitz3D, so there is no way to load and apply the animation data. Thanks for all the replies guys, I thought it was too good to be true.
Well, you can stil get the first one.
